Changes to Cervical Screening from 1st July 2025
From 1st July, smear invites are changing.

If you are aged between 25 and 49, you will be recalled every 5 years instead of 3, only if you have had negative smears in the past. If you are just turning 25, once you have had this first smear, if it is negative then you will be invited in 5 years’ time.

From 1st July, we recommend that you download the NHS App as soon as possible so that you can receive your invite. This will become the preferred method of inviting you and giving you your result. Don’t worry if you cannot download this app, you will either get a text message or a letter but the NHS App will become the preferred method of communication.
