It’s that time of year when nature gently reminds of the beauty of letting go.

The trees shed their leaves, making room for what is to come.

Like us, each falling leaf has its own story, it's own purpose, it's own flaws. Sometimes, we hold onto things that no longer serve us—old beliefs, past hurts, ways of working, relationships that drain us.

Letting go doesn’t mean we’ve failed; it means we’re making room for something better.

To simply be there, to listen without judgement or comparison, to allow someone to release, to grieve, to rage, goes against this instinct. But if we can put our own needs aside and simply sit with them, then that is when the deep inner magic can happen and their own way through can reveal itself.

Rediscovering the Power of Pause.

On this mornings walk with I stood quietly for around 15 minutes watching this young Heron.

The Heron barely moved, just focused on the water, waiting patiently for his reward.

During that time, I felt my body relax, my breathing become deeper and my hearing sharpen so I noticed the sound of the breeze rustling in the reeds and shrubbery, birds singing, the water gently lapping against the raft he stood on.

I realised that this relaxation and connection was a reward for my own patience.

Pause for a few moments if you can today and notice what happens.

Three Sisters Recreation Area, Three Sisters Rd, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan WN4 8DD

Meet at Lakeside Car Park, Three Sisters Nature Reserve, Ashton in Makerfield.
(Parking is Free)

A guided mindful walk and sensory exploration of the woodland at Three Sisters Recreation Area.
Based on the Japanese art of Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku) these gentle sessions aim to help you discover the physical and mental health benefits of slowing down and spending time in nature.

Accessible paths, slow pace.
Appropriate clothing and footwear recommended
Sorry but this event is NOT suitable for small children due to quiet and mindful nature of activities.
Sorry no dogs (same reason)

This session will be run as part of our commitment to 'Giving Back to our Community'

Nature is nurture... Walk it off

Walking helps us process emotions. Our eyes move naturally in bilateral motions as we walk— going from right to left. This turns on the logical and emotional parts of our brain and helps us make sense of what we feel.

So many people say “feel your feelings.” And it’s true we do need to feel them. But think a better way to say this is: “walk your feelings.” When we’re sitting still, parts of our brains are inactive. Our amygdala (threat center) can go haywire. Walking turns down the amygdala’s volume.

If you’re having a difficult conversation, walk with that person as you talk. This is especially important for people with complex trauma. You’ll both be more regulated and logical. You’ll have more access to the natural compassion that always lives within you.

Walk and then notice how much calmer and at peace you feel. Your body knows what to do. If you can, listen to the birds or the wind in the trees. For thousands of years these sounds grounded your ancestors— they’ll ground you too

Following my heart

A Message From Ann

Following my attunement to Reiki 1, I could not wait to reach level 11. However, following my second attunement, just a few months later, I realised that this was not something to be rushed.

I began to really notice and acknowledge the effects that daily practice was having on my physical, mental, and (particularly) emotional self, and I knew that I needed more time to come to terms with and understand these changes. I committed to three more years of practice and learning before I felt ready for Karen to complete my attunement to the level of Reiki Master.

This was in April 2015. Since then, I have been steadily building on this understanding, which has allowed me to improve my relationship with myself and with others. The more I share the gift of Reiki, either through healing sessions or guiding others to attunement, the more in awe I become of the innate ability all living things have to heal and revitalise their mind, body, and spirit.
