Dear patients,
Flu Clinics are available for booking!
You may receive a text message inviting you to book your annual flu vaccination with us in the next day or two. We wanted to offer reassurance that we have redesigned our Bassingbourn clinics, so as to avoid the queues and delays patients experienced last year.
Appointments should also appear via the S1 online appointments but please book in the correct appointment slots (the slots have been counted against vaccine numbers).

Dear Patients,
We are experiencing IT issues at our Bassingbourn Surgery, we cannot currently access the clinical system. Therefore all appointments scheduled for this afternoon will need to be moved to Ashwell Surgery site. A member of the team will be in touch to confirm that you can move you appointment to Ashwell, if not, we will reorganise your appointment at Bassingbourn for later in the week. Dear Patients,
You may have read that from today, the weight loss injection Mounjaro is available on the NHS via your GP Surgery. Unfortunately, until we have authority and guidance from our local prescribing team at the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board, we are unable to prescribe Mounjaro.
We will keep you posted as soon as we have the clinical guidance necessary for us to initiate this medication. In the meantime anyone who meets the criteria (BMI > 40, or >37.5 and from a minority ethnic background AND has four out of the five following conditions: Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood pressure, heart and vascular disease, high cholesterol and obstructive sleep apnoea), contacting the surgery requesting this, will be added to a waiting list and we will get back in touch as soon as we are able.

Dear Patients,
Please be aware that both the surgeries will be closed between 1.30pm-5.30pm tomorrow afternoon for staff to complete mandatory training. During this time, you can contact NHS111 for advice but we will reopen again at 5.30pm. Kind regards, Ashwell Surgery

**Dr Matthew Jarvis is retiring**
Dear Patients,
I would like to notify you of my upcoming retirement. My last working day will be Friday 21st March 2025.
Thank you for allowing me to look after you and your families, it has been a pleasure to serve Ashwell, Bassingbourn and the surrounding villages during my 25 year career at Ashwell Surgery.
I am certain to miss all the patients and staff that I have seen over the years. Please consider writing a message in one of the leaving books in the Practice.

Dear Patients, unfortunately Bassingbourn Surgery will remain closed again today as the main electrical supply coming into the Surgery has been damaged. You will notice UK Power Networks are working on replacing the cable in the road. We have been informed that this should be complete later today but to confirm all appointments will have been rescheduled to take place at Ashwell Surgery today.

Bassingbourn Surgery is currently closed due to a power issue with the main line coming into the Surgery. All appointments have been moved to Ashwell Surgery for the time being. UK power network have advised that they hope to solve the issue today but we will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Dear Patients,
Thank you to all those patients that attended the Surgery for their flu vaccines on Saturday 5th. We are fully aware that our Bassingbourn clinic did not run as smoothly as we would have liked and that patients experienced unacceptable delays. We would like to offer our heartfelt apologies for all patients that were affected and would like to reassure you that the flu clinic has been discussed at length over the last week and we will be making necessary changes to ensure that this does not happen again next year.

Dr Jarvis, Howe, Hasham and our wonderful nursing and admin teams, are all looking forward to seeing many of you, across both sites tomorrow morning for your flu vaccine.

The clinics are exceptionally busy and as you are aware parking at each site is limited.

Please walk to your appointment if possible.

If you need to drive, as well as our car park, The Bushel in Ashwell has kindly said patients can utilise their car park too (thank you 🙏).

Parking at Bassingbourn is limited, again we would encourage you to walk if possible, leaving the parking spaces for patients with any mobility issues.
