BetterEat UK - Online Dieticians Nutrition Diagnosis | Diabetes 1&2 Remission | Weight Management | Biochemical & Nutrigenetic Testing My name is Mariza Louw.

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick. I am Course Director and Co-Module Lead for the Improving Diabetes Care Program. I am a registered dietitian with extensive experience gained from over 30 years of full-time practice and a member of the British Dietetic Association. My approach to nutrition care is based on assessing each patient using appropriate assessment tools, includin

g physical examination and nutritional, biochemical and -nutrigenomic analysis. Once a diagnosis has been made, a holistic, patient-centred and personalised approach to treatment can be planned. This can include specific dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes and targeted nutrient therapy. It is essential to understand why an individual presents with a set of symptoms instead of simply applying a formula to treat the symptoms. Be it diabetes type 1 and 2, irritable bowel disorder, autoimmune conditions, depression, peri-and menopausal hormonal imbalances or complex weight management, treatment protocols are individualised for each patient. I have extensive experience utilising targeted nutrition to address subclinical and clinical nutrient deficiencies to optimise health and wellness, prevent risk and complications, and treat disease or mitigate medication side effects. I am excited to share my knowledge and expertise at the new Market Bosworth Nutrition and Diabetes Clinic, where you may experience world-class functional nutrition therapy.

Cold February calls for warm curries🥰 And a wonderful opportunity to add a little extra turmeric. For a while now the thought has been that Turmeric is not well absorbed and hence tablets or foods with added pepper ( pepperine) were seen as a way to aid absorption. We ( Nutrition scientists) are starting to see that the benefits might not be directly related to the anti-oxidant action of the turmeric ( as was thought) but rather the impact it may well have on ‘anti-inflammory’ microbes in the gut 🥰. I love it👍You?

When I ask people if they eat vegetables, they often say, "Yes! I do. 😃This is good news!
Some, however, are unaware that once the veggies are no longer bright in colour, it means many of the vital bioactive ingredients, like sulforaphane in broccoli, Folate in peas, and Vitamin C in peppers, have been destroyed.
