From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came to our Christmas Memorial Service. Seeing so many people come together meant more to us than words can say, and it truly made the evening what it was.

A special thank you to St Mary’s Church, Atherstone, and to John Stock, Glynis Gayton, Father Phillip Wells, Liz Bickley, Kerry Jones, and everyone who helped behind the scenes. Your kindness and support helped create such a warm and meaningful night.

The turnout was incredible, and we really hope the service brought you some comfort and a moment of peace during what can be a very difficult time of year. Thank you for being there, for remembering, and for sharing the evening with us, it meant so much to us.

If anyone is feeling alone over Christmas and needs someone to talk to, please know that you are not on your own. We are always here to help and the door is always open for anybody. ❤️

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our friend and former colleague Danny Ward. Danny was a valued part of our family funeral directors for many years, always going above and beyond for the families we serve and for all of us who worked alongside him. Even though he moved on from the business six years ago, he remained a fond and respected part of our story.
He will be missed by every one of us. God bless you Danny ❤️

Danny Ward
(1966–2025)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Danny on 1st December 2025 at Merevale House, aged 58, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Danny was a cherished brother to Christine, Peter, Barry, David, Robert, Des, Jane, and the late Ray and Graham. He was a dearly loved uncle, a devoted friend, and a kind soul who touched the lives of many.

A funeral service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held on Friday 2nd January 2026 at 12.30pm at St Michael & All Angels Church, Wood End, followed by a cremation at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Danny for the Merevale House Residents Fund may be placed in the donation boxes at the Church and Crematorium.

All are warmly welcome to Wood End Club following the service to share memories and celebrate Danny’s life.

Danny will be remembered with love, warmth, and fondness by all who knew him.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Liam, who has been a valued part of our team since 2021 working as a Driver Bearer, has now stepped up to become the Branch Manager at Gascoignes of Coleshill!

Liam has been a family friend of ours, and watching him grow, work hard, and achieve so much over the last four years has been truly special. Moving into this next chapter within our family business makes this achievement even more meaningful to us.

We believe in him wholeheartedly and know he will flourish in his new role, continuing to make a real difference every single day. We couldn’t be prouder of everything he’s achieved so far and are excited to see all that’s still to come.

As the funeral industry changes over time, some families are now choosing a direct cremation as an alternative to traditional services. This option can reflect personal wishes for simplicity or a need for financial flexibility, offering a respectful choice in line with individual preferences.

With over fifty years as a family owned business, we are dedicated in offering compassionate, tailored services to our community, whether you seek a fully personalised funeral or direct cremation. Our commitment to care never changes despite what funeral option is chosen.

We encourage families to carefully review funeral plans, especially those offered by larger corporate providers, and to understand where your loved will be placed and the facilities involved in their care until cremation. These details are important, and recent industry discussions emphasise a need for transparency.

At M G Evans, we believe that family owned funeral providers offer a uniquely compassionate and reliable approach. With deep roots in our community, we ensure that your loved one is cared for close to home, by people who understand the value of legacy and local connection. For guidance or more information, please feel free to reach out, we are here to support you.

20 Years Today

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since we lost our beloved Doreen Evans. She was the heart and soul of our family, and of the community she loved so much.

In 1969, she started the business that would go on to support not just our family, but countless others over the decades. Through sheer hard work, kindness, and unwavering determination, she built something lasting, and she did it with a smile and a warmth that made everyone feel welcome.

She was loved by all who knew her, customers who became friends, neighbours, and anyone lucky enough to cross her path. Her generosity, and open heart left an impression that time hasn’t dimmed.

We miss her every day, but today especially, we remember the incredible legacy she left behind. Thank you for everything and we miss you dearly.

Forever in our hearts.
