👣😧I treated a lovely gent over the weekend with a number of historical issues and a more recent niggling pain in his heel. He completes over 19k steps a day at work and finds by dinner time his heel is very sore and finds it difficult to walk. His calf cramps and spasms alot both when he's playing sports and when simply walking.

When we looked assessed the issue we found he has fat pad irritation which is a padding in the heel of the foot to protect the bone against compression on the floor. The calf was very tight causing a pulling on the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia leading to overloaded compression on the fat pad.

We treated him with deep tissue release, medical acupuncture, self management with trigger release massage and footwear advice and some stretches to ease the symptoms.

🏏 Treatment for chronic shoulder pain in a cricket bowler🏏
Deep tissue release into mid back, upper traps and pecs, followed by medical acupuncture and a home exercise plan of upper traps stretches, pec stretch and rotator cuff banded strengthening exercises, to initially help with subacromial pain syndrome. There is a huge postural element in this players rehabilitation.
Shoulder pain can be difficult to rehab alone. There can be many factors affecting the pain including rotator cuff weakness leading to shoulder instability, poor posture leading to rounded shoulders limiting space in the shoulder causing impingement and increase curve in the mid back causing spinal kyphosis and reducing shoulder movement.

We have just 3 weeks until the Manchester Marathon! 🏃‍♀️🏃
Make sure you're in best shape for the 3rd April!
⭐Ensure you have trialed your nutrition/fluids for the big day and have prepared a plan.
⭐Ensure you're taking recovery seriously! Lots of stretching, foam rolling, sports massage and active recovery is key.
⭐You should now be tapering your runs, beginning to reduce distance to ensure you're not fatigued for the race.
⭐ Protein! Make sure you're taking in enough protein to help muscles recover for the big day!
