🐾 Meet Mochi 🐾

The sweet Mochi was recently diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and has started having physio and hydro treatment at AVPH 🐢

Mochi was nervous at the start of her initial physio appointment, but settled well and by the end of her session she was happily playing with her toy πŸ₯°

Swipe to see Mochi relaxing after playing with her squirrel toy 🐿

We look forward to seeing Mochi again soon πŸ’œπŸ’™

πŸ– Meet the team! 🐾

Charlotte has recently joined the AVPH team helping out behind the scenes with admin. Charlotte has a Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy and has loved caring for and being around animals 🐢🐱🐴

At home, Charlotte is kept busy by her small fur-and-feathered family, including her two parrots Moo and Sully, who also consider themselves admin assistants and like to oversee all admin duties! 🦜 Swipe to see a photo of Moo helping out πŸ˜‚

When Charlotte is not surrounded by animals, you’ll usually find her outdoors exploring or out around the coast in her role as a Coastguard Rescue Officer.

Charlotte is excited to be part of the journey that helps your pets move and feel better! πŸ•

Some great advice for your arthritic pets ❀

Some great advice for your arthritic pets ❀

Today is World Arthritis Day, and the perfect opportunity to raise awareness on how we can help arthritic pets at home!

Arthritis, just as it is for humans, can be a slow, painful and debilitating condition. Sadly, it’s very common in our four-legged friends and becomes worse in damp, cold and wet weather.

The good news is, there’s plenty we can do to make our pets more comfortable at home. Check out our top tips!

⭐ Provide soft, warm sleeping areas (orthopaedic beds really help) and keep their sleeping spot out of draughts

⭐ Use ramps for those necessary but hard-to-reach areas

⭐ Cover hard, cold floors with rugs or mats so your pet can safely navigate around their home without slipping

⭐ Keep your pet at their ideal weight - extra weight puts more strain on joints. If you need help shifting some pounds off your pet, don’t forget, our nursing team offer weight clinics!

⭐ Raise food and water bowls to reduce the need to bend sore joints

⭐ Consider a pet-specific joint supplement

⭐ Provide gentle, regular exercise, rather than one long walk

Finally, remember, it’s their home too, so the more comfortable and accessible you can make their day-to-day living, the better their quality of life.

Speak to our team if you’d like any further advice specific to your pet - we’re always here to help!

🐢 Rocky 🐢

Meet Rocky! He is a lovely 6 month old labrador who unfortunately has severe contraction of his flexor carpi radialis tendon; causing a shortening of his ulna and radius bones.

Rocky was referred to us by his vet to help treat his condition and reduce the chance of needing to amputate his right front leg.

He has been having regular physio and his vet is really pleased with Rocky's progress. Once he has grown more, Rocky will be a good candidate for an operation to further treat his condition and improve his quality of life 🐾

Well done to Rocky and his owners for being very committed to his physio and working hard at Rocky's home exercise plan πŸ’ͺ
