Bowen, the miracle modality!

It doesn't matter how many times I have had Bowen for over the last 20 years, it never eases to amaze me!

Yesterday, I managed to get an emergency appointment with a local Bowen therapist to aid my healing. If you are someone that has had Bowen, you will know that sinking feeling as the first couple of moves are applied and your body goes into that state of healing and says "awwww, Bowen".... I don't call it "Bowenland" for nothing. I became a human body equine Bowen therapist over 17 years ago because it quite literally changes my life and I thank my lucky stars everyday that I was introduced to this incredibly soft yet powerful modality. Yesterday I fell in love with Bowen all over again 😍πŸ₯°

Bowen Therapy was developed in the 1950s by the Australian osteopath Tom Bowen, who recognised that unusual relationships existed between certain health complaints and particular patterns of muscular dysfunction. His observations led to many years of intense clinical research, which ultimately resulted in the development of a unique system of myofascial stimulation. This brought about long term corrections to the unusual patterns of muscular dysfunction and the corresponding health complaints in his patients as well. Tom Bowen referred to his work simply as soft tissue therapy. He continued to develop and refine this work right up until his death in 1982 and is recognised and practiced globally

You see, I believe that every in this life is cyclical, noone is reinventing the wheel. Things circle around and we awaken once again to its knowledge and observations. I absolutely adore that in the equine industry especially, more and more professionals are now turning to a softer and more subtle approach to bodyworker alongside other modality and recognising the huge impact of a lighter, intuitive and intentional touch.

I think its safe to say, we have to show alot of thanks and gratitude to the people who came before us and also the amazing people that are continuing to expand our horizons!

Ever wondered why Bowen therapy sessions include those seemingly brief breaks between gentle moves? πŸ€” Let's dive into the magic of these breaks and their impact on your body's neurological pathways! 🌟

πŸ” The Restart Button: Bowen therapy uses these short pauses to allow your body to process the information received. It's like hitting the restart button on your computer – giving your body a chance to recalibrate and respond more effectively.

🌟 Stimulation of Neurological Pathways: During these breaks, your brain and nervous system get a chance to communicate, helping to release tension and blocked energy. This stimulation helps your body recognize areas that need healing, and it can initiate positive changes.

πŸ’ͺ Opportunity for Change: These pauses provide your body with the opportunity to change and heal itself. By engaging your body's innate intelligence, Bowen therapy encourages the release of pain, improved mobility, and overall well-being.

So, the next time you're in a Bowen session, embrace those breaks as moments of transformation! Your body's ability to heal and adapt is truly remarkable. πŸ™ŒπŸ’«

Our nervous system is intricate and powerful, playing a crucial role in sending messages between our brain and body. When we experience trauma, such as an injury or emotional distress, the nervous system can become overwhelmed and imbalanced.

Even after the initial wounds or issues have healed, the body's response to trauma can be long-lasting. This is because the nervous system retains the memories of the traumatic events, which can lead to ongoing pain, anxiety, and other lingering symptoms.

Gentle and non-invasive, Bowen Therapy aims to rebalance the nervous system, aiding in its ability to release stored trauma and restore harmony to the body.

By strategically targeting specific points on the body, the Bowen Technique stimulates the nervous system and activates its inherent healing capabilities. This helps the body to reset and release tension, allowing the nervous system to gradually release trauma-related memories. Regular sessions may help alleviate symptoms associated with trauma, such as chronic pain, recurring stress, and emotional imbalances.

Healing from emotional trauma takes time and patience. It is important that anyone struggling with the lingering effects of past trauma, also seeks professional guidance and support.
