What On Earth Is A Pelvic Tuck?! 🤔
Anyone who spends more than a few seconds with me at a slingmeet or babywearing consultation hears this phrase.
I talk about it all the time. 🤪
Check out these photos to see what we mean by “Pelvic Tuck”.
The first 3 show what it should look like and the next is how to get it.
When baby is in the sling or carrier look for the letters J (shape from the side) and M (shape from the front).
In a front carry, put your hands between baby and the sling, scoop round the hips forwards.
This brings the hips towards you, ensuring their knees are higher than their bottom. This in turn ensures the natural curve of babies spine.
If you have a nice pelvic tuck (think bottom down, knees up), this will ensure baby naturally leans into you with their head resting on your chest.
A wee pelvic tuck can make all the difference. 👊
