It is with great sadness we have to announce the passing of Peter Smith. Peter (91) passed away in the early hours of Monday 24th of June after a short spell in hospital. His funeral will be held in Axford church on Monday 15th at 2pm. Therefore, the yard won’t be open on this day.

Peter took over the company along with his brothers from their father and worked tirelessly to get to where we are today, changing from transport to buses to coal and logs along the way. Peter was still delivering logs into his early 80s and then would be seen regularly around the yard. He loved meeting all of his wonderful customers and would always try and wind a few up. Up until the day he died he was still asking how many log orders there were to be done 😂 A big thank you to everyone who would stop and chat to him, it really made his day.

We are now at the time of the year where we can offer a stacking service, so get in touch and order your logs.

The benefit from ordering at this time of year:

▪️ Flexible deliveries - pick a day and time that suits you.
▪️ You will have logs as good as kiln dried logs (when you come to burn them) without paying for the kiln drying process - the sun will do it for you.
▪️You haven’t got to stack your logs away in the cold and wet

Looking for a cake decorator who wants free advertising. We are looking for a 1940’s wedding cake to be decorated for display at our events. During the war wedding cakes where just decorated cardboard round boxes.

We have ‘Zip’ bags (£65) ready for delivery/collection or plastic bags (£11) ready for collection to see you over the rest of the winter. All logs are kiln dried to under 20% moisture to meet the Woodsure ready to burn scheme. WS685

Nick had the kiln loaded by 7am this morning (bet he wished there was a heater in the forklift), ready for Steve to light the burners and get the next batch underway.

Please remember, it is now a legal requirement that logs sold under 2cubic metres must be 20% moisture or less and be registered with Woodsure.
