A moment to remember this Christmas.

Our JF Clarke team in Axminster have been honoured to take part in a very special Christmas tradition this year. Lindsey decorated a Christmas tree, now placed in The Minster Church, created as a space for remembering loved ones during the festive season.

This meaningful theme of remembrance has also been reflected in our JF Clarke office window display, offering a quiet moment of reflection for those passing by.

At a time of year that can feel especially difficult for many, we hope these displays provide comfort, warmth, and a place to pause and remember those who are always in our hearts.

Back in June, JF Clarke held a fantastic funeral in which a jazz band played in front of the hearse during the procession. This made for a heartfelt, unique tribute and was definitely a lovely funeral to be a part of.

Simon Wakely has been a part of the AJ Wakely team for 28 years. Simon joined his father, David Wakely, and his grandfather, Jack Wakely, in 1995 at our Bridport office where he learnt the profession of funeral directing.

Nearly 3 decades on and Simon is now the funeral director for our Axminster, Bridport, Beaminster and Sidmouth offices, continuing the family traditions and serving the local communities in which he works.

J.F. Clarke & Son has been established in Axminster since 1880 and has since been entrusted to family funeral directors AJ Wakely & Sons. In 1972 Roy Searle joined as an apprentice to later become the proprietor of the business. In 1982, Simon Searle joined his father to work as a funeral director assisted by his wife Carole, and built a friendly and supportive team, supporting local families and the wider Axminster area. In 2021, Simon and Carole retired leaving Simon and Leah Wakely to continue their work supporting the Axminster community.
