Even with the colder temperatures rolling in, there’s something truly magical happening here at Pathway Ponies… ❄️🐴

Today our wonderful ponies showed off their special superpower — warming hearts and lifting spirits, no matter the weather.

Despite the chill, our learners engaged brilliantly in their strengths-based, client-led bespoke programmes. Each young person here chooses their own ASDAN LifeSkills challenges and Animal Care Short Course modules, aligning their learning with their interests, future goals and next steps.

Our alternative provision offers exactly what young people need: calm, connection, support, a sense of belonging, and a nurturing space to breathe while they find themselves. ❤️

The freedom to choose runs through the heart of everything we do — for both our clients and our ponies 🤗

We’re so lucky to have a big indoor space, which means our ponies can still enjoy liberty for most of their working day, even when it’s too wet or windy to be outside. In our barn, they still have the freedom to choose when they’d like to stand, sleep, move, and interact with us and with each other.

This video is all the evidence we need that the best life lessons happen naturally when we have the freedom to chose and move.

The video shows a magical moment during a session when Mouse and Roo chose to share some space in mutual grooming. Listen out for our young learner gently reminding Darcy (who wanted to move them on):
“Sorry, you can’t right now — they’re occupied.” 🤩

Big skills for someone so young — recognising when to pause, wait, and honour another’s space 🌟

So often here at Pathway Ponies, accidental metaphors find their way to us and spark big conversations — and even bigger aha moments💭

Today, for one learner, it happened like this 👇

🔥 Activity starter: “Let’s do some detective work to figure out whose rug is whose…”

🧨 That simple suggestion produced a tiny spark within the Learner — a thought about how “one size doesn’t fit all.”

💥 And then boom! The learner naturally flowed into independently recognising that maybe not every setting or situation suits every person. If we discover the right fit, it feels comfortable and safe — like the right rug on the right pony. But if it’s not right, it can feel tight, uncomfortable and unsafe. This means finding the right setting - just like finding the right rug, is important to feel good!

Gosh, I love the power of a tiny pony or two…

🌟 Big News! 🌟

Due to the incredible popularity of our half-day sessions, from Thursday 6th November our Alternative Provision (AP) for ages 12–16 is expanding!

We’re now offering full-day sessions, 10am – 2pm, alongside our half-day option, 10am – 12pm. Even better — as a Buckinghamshire Council Approved Bespoke AP Provider, you can be confident that we’re delivering an officially recognised, tailored programme for our learners.

Our AP programmes are meticulously designed to offer a sense of belonging and community, whilst igniting a spark for learning and fostering personal growth and development in a calm, supportive, SEN-friendly environment.

Each session follows a consistent, trauma-informed wellbeing-focused format designed to promote emotional balance, life skills, and accredited learning outcomes:
🍁 Equine-Assisted Wellbeing – to decompress and prepare for learning opportunities both Social/Emotional and Academic.
🍁 Equine-Assisted Learning Activities – focusing on teamwork, communication, and transferable life skills.
🍁 ASDAN Accredited Learning – working towards a nationally recognised, accredited certification.
🍁 Equine-Assisted Wellbeing Reflection – closing the session with calm connection time and self-reflection.

Our flexible opportunities allow our leaners to take ownership of their learning and personal development, empowering them to lead their own journey and create their own opportunities.

Sessions run in small groups of up to 6 learners, and funding can be arranged via private payments, Local Authority support, or school-funded placements depending on your circumstances.

For learners who need it, a gradual approach starting with 1:1 wellbeing sessions can help build confidence before joining full programmes.
