A thought for the Easter weekend…

You don’t have to make the most of it.

Not every moment has to count
Not everything needs a plan
Not every day needs to be “well spent”

Some of the pressure you feel this weekend?

It’s not even yours.

It’s noise.
Expectation.
That subtle feeling you should be doing something more.

But what if you didn’t?

What if this weekend wasn’t about doing more…
but needing less?

Less pressure
Less rushing
Less trying to get it right

And just a little more space to breathe

However it looks - slow, busy, messy or quiet

If it was just about willpower, you would have changed it by now.

So why do the same patterns keep happening?

This is something many people quietly struggle with.

You might understand what’s going on…
You might even notice it as it’s happening…

And yet, the same responses keep showing up.

🌙 Ever notice how the moment your head hits the pillow… your mind suddenly wakes up? ⚡️️

You’re exhausted but your brain starts replaying conversations, thinking about tomorrow, or drifting from one thought to another.

If this sounds familiar, you’re certainly not alone.

✨On World Sleep Day, here are two simple techniques that can help relax the body and quiet a busy mind at night.

As you settle into bed, take a moment to allow your body to start unwinding from the day.

Bring your attention to your feet and imagine them becoming heavy and relaxed…

Then slowly move your awareness up through your body .....
your legs… hips… stomach… shoulders… arms… and face, allowing each area to soften.

Once your body begins to relax, try this simple mind exercise.
Choose a word, for example apple.

Then slowly think of a different word for each letter, lightly picturing each one in your mind.

A – anchor
P – pillow
P – paper
L – leaf
E – envelope

Giving the body permission to relax and the mind something gentle to focus on can help quieten racing thoughts and allow sleep to come more naturally.

Helping people quiet a busy mind and sleep better is something I often support clients with through hypnotherapy.

A good sleep really does make such a difference to how we feel both mentally and physically! 🧡

Therapy can feel a bit like building a bridge.

We take time to understand what’s underneath the stress or anxiety. We strengthen emotional foundations. We gently create new ways of coping and responding that actually work for you.

Step by step. At your pace.

Over time, what once felt daunting becomes steadier. The bridge holds - because you’ve built it.

Most people I work with are insightful, self-aware and intelligent.
They understand why they feel the way they do.

And yet… the same patterns keep showing up.

That’s because insight happens at a conscious level,
while many emotional responses, habits and reactions are driven by the subconscious.

This is why talking, analysing or “thinking it through” can often only take us so far.

When we work with the deeper part of the mind, change often feels less forced -
more like something settling, rather than something being pushed.

💫 Not every pattern that keeps us stuck is logical.

Most people understand what they should be doing.
They’ve thought it through.
They’ve talked it out.
They’ve tried to change it consciously.

And yet, certain patterns still repeat.

That’s because many behaviours, emotional responses, habits and reactions are driven by the subconscious - not the logical mind.

Hypnotherapy works by gently accessing that deeper level, allowing change to happen in a calmer, more natural way.

We’re part way into January now and if it isn’t turning out how you hoped, you’re not alone.

Change doesn’t happen just because the calendar changes, or because we made big plans for it to. It usually begins with small, gentle shifts that feel manageable.

As we slow things down and settle into the festive season, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you a very Merry Christmas 🎄

To those of you I’ve had the privilege of working with this year, thank you for your trust, openness and courage. It has been an honour to be part of your journey.

To those I’ve worked with in the past, I hope you are doing well and taking time to rest, reset and be kind to yourself.

And to those I may work with in the future, I look forward to supporting you when the time is right.

However you’re spending Christmas, I hope it brings moments of calm, comfort and connection, and maybe a little time to simply chill (taking inspiration from my very relaxed festive assistant 🐶).
