Can you help keep our local NCT branch going? Contact them if you can!
What a weekend! The sale seemed to be a big success with over 200 people through the door and lots of items sold. If you sold, helped or just came along, thank you for being part of what, at present, may be the last Nearly New Sale.
As you may be aware, we have not had many volunteers in recent years and running the sales has become harder for the few volunteers left, so a sad decision may be made to make this the last sale the Aylesbury & District Branch will hold. It really will depend on whether new people come forward to join the committee to help keep the sales running.
The branch has been running since the early 1980’s, with the national NCT starting in 1956. I believe the sales started running the late 1980’s and quickly became well received and attended. The Nearly New Sales have had thousands of people through the door over the years, we feel we have supported the community with our pop-up shop style sales, helping people sell items and find bargains! I attended my first sale in April 1992 and I am now shopping for my grandchildren.
This is our last plea for new volunteers to help run future sales, with the next one meant to be in November in the run up to Christmas.
If you think helping to organise the sales is something you could help with, please email aylesbury@nct.org.uk or send a PM with your email and Eden and Melissa will be happy to chat with you about what volunteering means. Eden and Melissa will be the last volunteers standing and if no one comes forward to help by the Summer, then sadly, they have decided to make the branch dormant.
We had a few interested people at the sale but still need more. We hope to hold an evening coffee and chat soon for those interested to come along and find out more. Date to follow.
As someone who has loved being involved with the branch since I had my first baby in 1992, I am sad to think it could be the end, but I can no longer keep the branch afloat. I am personally moving on from volunteering and just focusing on my Practitioner role with NCT. (The popular local antenatal classes I lead will continue as they are separate from branches and all run through NCT Head Office).
Kindest regards from Emma
