Get to know our funeral director at Heritage & Sons in Amersham, Matthew Chandler.

Seventeen. That's how old Matthew was when he started.

He wanted to look after people, protect them. Funeral care gave him a way.

He began as a Funeral Service Team Member, caring for Buckinghamshire families. Became a Funeral Director in his early twenties.

Every morning he arrives at his funeral home and says good morning to every person in his care. Checks on them before he does anything else. Then the families start arriving.

What still surprises him is how little families talk about death. People who love each other deeply and never once say what they'd want. So the person sitting across from him is often carrying grief and guesswork at the same time.

They walk in not knowing how any of this works. By the time they leave, they do.

He switches off at the coast with his wife, his children, his dogs. Nowhere to be and nothing to carry.

Matthew Chandler. Funeral Director. Heritage & Sons Funeral Directors, Amersham.

Looking after the dead. Steadying the living. Since seventeen.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿงธ Meet Emma

Emma's mum is a resident at Hulcott Nursing Home . After meeting our Community Champion, Maria, she helped organise a visit with our Never Alone Buddies.

There were smiles, laughter, and one resident's daughter left so inspired she's picking up her knitting needles again.

The buddies are now ready to be placed around the community for someone to find, each carrying a simple message: you're never alone.

โ›„๐Ÿฆธ A snowman. An Iron Man. A funeral home manager and a funeral arranger.

Buckingham Community Fair had it all. Carol and Amy talked to former families we've supported, met new faces, and handed out enough colouring sheets and lollipops to keep the children happy.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by.
