Clear Aid

Clear Aid We are two serving fire fighters who have a passion for teaching first aid. Welcome to Clear Aid. A First Aid training company.
(1)

We have two trainers, Robby and Chris, who are currently serving fire fighters. They have countless real life experiences to draw upon whilst training. Both instructors are trained as advanced trauma practitioners and they also have high level teaching qualifications. All First Aid courses can be taught at your place of work or at our venue in Potters Bar. We cover every first aid course available

on the market at great prices. We also offer parents a chance to do a 3 hour course on emergency first aid for children. It is very affordable at £20pp, and not only covers first aid, but also covers common illnesses in children. The website is worth a look and has an easy email section where one of the trainers will make themselves available to you.

First Aid advice - When to call an ambulance

Usually, when a person has a seizure, there is no need to call 999 for an ambulance. However, always do call an ambulance if:

- you know it is the person’s first seizure
they have injured themselves badly
- they have trouble breathing after the seizure has stopped
- one seizure immediately follows another with no recovery in between
- the seizure lasts two minutes longer than is usual for them, or
- you do not know how long their seizures last.

For someone you do not know, follow our basic first aid message: Calm, Cushion, Call.
Some people recover quickly from a tonic clonic seizure, but often they will be very tired, want to sleep, and may not feel back to normal for several hours or sometimes days.

🚨 Lithium Battery Fires: The Hidden Danger in Seconds 🚨

Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere – phones, e-bikes, laptops, power tools – but when they fail, they don’t burn like “normal” fires.

🔥 What kind of smoke do lithium batteries produce?
When a lithium battery goes into thermal runaway, it releases a thick, highly toxic smoke made up of dangerous gases such as hydrogen fluoride, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and other volatile organic compounds.

⚠️ Why is the smoke so dangerous?
• Hydrogen fluoride – highly corrosive, can cause severe respiratory damage
• Carbon monoxide – prevents oxygen from being carried in the blood
• Hydrogen cyanide – interferes with the body’s ability to use oxygen at a cellular level
• Irritates eyes, skin, and airways almost immediately
• Can cause confusion, collapse, or unconsciousness very quickly

⏱️ How quickly can smoke fill a room?
Faster than most people realise.
Lithium battery fires produce large volumes of dense, toxic smoke extremely quickly. A single battery can fill a room in under a minute, with visibility dropping to near zero in seconds.

📉 What this means in real life:
• You may only have seconds to react, not minutes
• Smoke, not flames, is often the biggest threat
• Early detection (working smoke alarms) is critical
• Charging batteries unattended or overnight increases risk

Life-saving allergy pens must be stocked by schools for the first time under new plans announced today (5 March 2026).

The move will also see compulsory training for teachers and a requirement for each school to have a dedicated allergy policy.

Life-saving allergy pens must be stocked by schools for the first time under new plans announced today.

Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) has been identified in sterile and non-sterile wipes following manufacturer recalls. Contamination is usually linked to water systems and biofilm formation during production, with BCC able to survive preservatives.
