Ladies, you must read the last paragraph! You are awesome π₯°
I am so thrilled to name Amy Scullard as January's Community Champion! Here is Amy's story in her own words:
I am the proud mum of 2 wonderful children. I work as a full time physiotherapist, visiting older people or those with a neurological conditions, in their own homes.
I founded an entirely volunteer-run charity called Emmett's Genies which supports critically and terminally ill children and their families. This was after my own son went through treatment for stage IV cancer.
I try and organise fundraisers that also bring the community together, such as our annual Hawkslade Easter egg hunt. As well as other non-fundraising events such as a party on the estate for the Queens Jubilee.
I also voluntarily, jointly run Aylesbury PANDAS perinatal mental health support group which provides local parents with a safe space to get support.
I am honoured to have been nominated for this community award, especially as there are so many deserving people in our area who work tirelessly, giving up their own time to help others. I have been privileged that my experiences have allowed these incredible people into my life.
The award is gratefully received but its not all me! Others need to be acknowledged as well, as everything is a team effort! In particular all my fellow Emmett's Genies Trustees, volunteers and supporters without whom Emmett's Genies would never have got this far. The incredible children and families we work with who are so very brave and inspire me every day.
A huge thank you to Alicia who runs Aylesbury PANDAS with me. Setting up and running this group was important to us both and the commitment is equally shared between the two of us. We run under the bigger umbrella that is the charity PANDAS who are a great country-wide charity.
Recognition also to the ladies who attend our group who are incredible women and wonderful mothers. I want them all to know that!
