The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. You can opt out of an Emergency Alert, however, we strongly recommend that people do not opt out of the service, as it is intended to warn you when lives are in danger. If you’d like to opt out search your settings for ‘emergency alerts’ and turn off Emergency alerts. More information available below via the link in comments.

Removing caffeine from our favourite hot drinks does not change the amount of antioxidants that give regular tea and coffee their health benefits.

In fact, researchers have discovered people who enjoy coffee before midday – whether decaf or not – had a lower risk of heart and circulatory diseases.

So, is decaf good or bad for you?

Decaf tea and coffee can be part of a healthy diet as long as you're not loading them with sugar, syrups, or cream. If caffeine affects your sleep, causes jitteriness or heart palpitations, switching to decaf might help ease those symptoms.

If you have specific health concerns, it’s always best to check in with a healthcare professional. https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/nutrition/ask-the-expert/decaf-tea-coffee-bad-for-you
