Great to see Fenella Quinn & her horses. We weighed the retired horses, the competition horses as well as the babies who were very brave going on the scales. A few tweaks to diets after seeing some great results with Del using the Veteran Balancer, we also swapped a few of the oldies onto it too.

My first stop in Aberdeen is to Charley Hamilton not just do the diet checks but also congratulate her on once again qualifying for London with the talented MFS Loretta Blue. Well done Charley, can’t wait to cheer you on! 👏🏻

Shelly as she’s know at home has a diet of Re-leve mix and Competition fit mix, so that the energy can be increased coming up to competition by increasing the competition fit mix and reducing the Re-leve.

A little follow up on a post I did last year, that maybe relevant with hay shortages this winter in certain areas….

If you are on a livery yard where your hay is included in your package, it is sooo tempting to want to get your moneys worth, I totally get it, it’s human nature. But…..

If you are on yard that knows they are short on hay/haylage this year, if you have a good doer or a fatty - Think about it & “Be Kind” not just to your horse to help it’s waistline & health as per the original post but for the other horse owners that have poor doers, older horses, or under weight horses that really do need to feed ad-lib forage to keep weight on.

For those who are concerned about gastric ulcers, the below link has lots of the latest research & info regarding feeding the good doer with ulcers, what’s the minimum forage quantities, and best times of day for feeding to reduce the risk.
