We’re excited to share the latest progress on the new Heart of Kent Hospice at Greensand Place!

This week marks two significant milestones for the hospice. Ann-Marie Kelly has been appointed as permanent Chief Executive, and the Reserved Matters application for the new hospice building has been approved.

These developments pave the way for the next phase of our journey, launching the fundraising campaign to make the new hospice a reality, supported by an extraordinary legacy gift of nearly £3 million from Edwina and David Bicker.

Exciting times ahead as we continue our mission to provide compassionate care for our community.

As we mark , we wanted to share a lovely story that perfectly captures the spirit of the day!

Pauline recently spent some time with us on the IPU and has now returned home, where she’s being supported by hospice services. Before leaving, she wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff for their kindness and care 🤗

She asked her daughter to bring in tea, coffee, sugar, squash - and even a bottle of sherry (as she said she’d enjoyed “one or two sherries” during her stay!). She also kindly donated two hairdryers.

Pauline said, “Everyone has been really, really kind. It didn’t matter if it was 3 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon, someone was always there to listen to me.”

We’re so grateful to Pauline for her warmth and generosity💕

Jack participated in the London to Brighton cycle ride!

He raised a wonderful £1,050 for Heart of Kent Hospice in memory of his Grandmother, Rosemary who passed away in our care back in 2017.

As a little fun twist, Jack also pledged to shave his hair off, if he raised over £1,000!

Our Story

We were founded in 1991 and a year later celebrated our official opening with HRH Diana Princess of Wales. Since then we have expanded to offer patient and family support, a range of occupational and complimentary therapies, and a drop in centre, as well as our inpatient facilities.
