It's testimonial Tuesday!
A lovely message from Jean:

Mathew is a very polite person, he brings all his own equipment, he always puts your needs first and he explains what he needs to do and always asks if that's ok, he is very gentle while working and moisturizes your feet after. Thank you Mathew.

We have had a lovely testimonial from Anita today:

I have been using PS Footcare for several years, I have Type 2 diabetes and need to pay attention to my feet. PS Footcare was recommended to me by someone who had used the company for many years. I find Mathew to be a very caring and considerate person, he listens to any concerns I have, and will advise me accordingly, I never feel like this is just a job to him, I am treated with care and kindness, Mathew always has a smile no matter whether I’m his first client or his 10th, he always has time for a chat. I find the company extremely professional and friendly.

Did you know...

1. People with flatfoot can have an extra bone that most other people do not have.
Some people may be born with an extra bone or cartilage referred to as the Accessory Navicular Bone. This extra bone is located on the inner side of the foot above the arch, and your doctor may remove it to treat flatfoot during childhood, or even post-childhood since this does not affect the bone structure of the foot.

2. You can develop flatfoot at any point in life.
Your feet are not immune to the stress and signs of ageing. Your arch can collapse over time as your tendons become damaged through wear and tear. Inflammation and tears in the posterior tibia tendon can also cause the arch to collapse, resulting in flatfoot.

3. Flatfoot pain can affect your legs, knees, and lower back.
It’s recommended that you consult with a doctor if you suffer from flat feet and are constantly having pain in your legs, knees, and lower back. The condition can result in increased pain and difficulty during certain activities, such as running or standing for extended periods of time.

4. Infants and toddlers have flat feet.
Young children have flat feet as their posterior tibia tendon develops. However, improper growth of this tendon during adolescence can result in a lifetime of flat feet.

5. Your footprint can help determine if you have flat feet.
By stepping in water and then stepping onto dry ground, your footprint will indicate if you suffer from flat foot syndrome!

Every day, your feet are subjected to huge amounts of pressure.

They absorb approximately 26,000 pounds of weight, which adds up roughly to two elephants!

High heels increase that even further, so it’s no wonder our feet start to wear out as we age.

Its so important to keep our feet happy and healthy with the workout they get! A great excuse to get your feet looked after by P.S.footcare!

Did you know....
Your toes have superpowers?

Your toes are essential for balance, movement, and weight bearing as their nerves send signals to the brain to control these activities. Without toes, your feet wouldn’t work at all!

Your toes constantly touch the ground as you move, but your big toes are the ones in charge. As they press down, they alert the brain that you are well balanced and ready to go. They also act as springs to push you off and keep you stable. If the function of your big toe is impaired for any reason (injury, misalignment, or infection, for example) you’ll struggle to balance or walk at all!

Have you ever wondered why you're so ticklish on your feet?

Your feet hold near to 8,000 nerves in them! This also explains why it's so painful when you stub your toe! 😬

Did you know...

Not all toes have the same amount of bones!

Even though it’s called your “big” toe, it only has two bones while your other toes each have three bones. These bones are called phalanges (pronounced fuh-lan-jeez).

Some people also have more than five toes on each foot! This is known as polydactylism (pronounced paul-ee-dack-tuh-lizz-umm).

When we say to sunblock from head to toes, we mean it!
Your feet are highly
susceptible to melanoma and
other forms of skin cancer.
Lather up with sunscreen from head
to toe – literally – when at the pool
or beach to protect your skin from
the harmful rays of the sun. Dont forget to sunblock both the tops and the bottoms of your feet!

Although its not sunny out there yet, dont forget that during hot weather, it's best to wear a different pair of shoes every day!

You need to allow the pair you have already worn time to dry out to avoid a build-up of nasty smells and bacteria.

A quarter of your bodies bones are in your feet!

The human body is made up of 206 bones, and 52 of these are found in your feet (26 in each foot). Each foot also has 33 joints and over 100 muscles, ligaments, and tendons!

Did you know....

There's pressure points in your feet beleived to link to other parts of your body?

For example, the toes are thought to correspond to the head, neck, and sinuses. The arch of the foot is linked to the spine, and the outer edge of the foot, to the shoulders, arms, hips, and legs. The bottom of the foot near the heel is associated with the pelvic organs and the sciatic nerve.

If you ever have a blocked nose, or sore back! It's time for a foot rub!
