On Sunday 26 March 2006, Scotland became one of the first countries in the world to introduce comprehensive, UK‑leading legislation protecting people from the harmful effects of second-hand to***co smoke in indoor public spaces.

On Thursday 26 March 2026, we mark 20 years since these landmark measures came into force across Scotland.

Since 2006, smoking rates have almost halved, with around half a million fewer people in Scotland smoking today compared to two decades ago.

Quit Your Way can be contacted Monday – Friday from 9am until 4pm.
