What is Quadratus Lumborum Referred Pain?
Back pain that ”does not go away“ may not only be caused by a herniated disc or joint degeneration...
But it can be caused by a deep muscle called Quadratus Lumborum (QL), a muscle between the lower ribs and the pelvis.
Commonly found symptoms:
• Pain in the lower back on the side (waist)
• Pain up the ribs or down the hips.
• Pain on the side of the body, similar to kidney pain.
• Pain when sitting for a long time, standing, tilting, or lifting heavy objects.
• There may be a lot of pain when breathing deeply or coughing and sneezing vigourously.
Causes of symptoms:
• Sitting for a long time without a backrest
• Stand or walk sideways for a long time.
• Lifting heavy objects in the wrong position.
• Weak core muscles
• Accumulated stress directly affects the muscular system.
How to treat and care
• QL‘s specialised reflexology, Thai traditional medicine
• Stretching QL muscles properly
• Training core muscles (Core muscles) to be stable.
