The severity of osteoarthritis symptoms can vary greatly from person to person.

Everyone’s arthritis is different, and symptoms can vary from day to day. There are many ways to maintain a good quality of life when living with arthritis. Some of these include physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a well balanced diet and taking your medication as prescribed.

Questions to ask yourself, living with pain… thank you MSK NHS Ayrshire & Arran

It's our final post for the month about gabapentinoids.

If you are prescribed gabapentin or pregabalin, ask yourself these six questions:

1. Am I still in pain?

2. Does my pain never seem to get better?

3. Has my pain lasted more than 3 months?

4. Do I have any side effects associated with my medicines?

5. Am I missing out on life?

6. Would I like to find other ways to manage my pain, other than medicines?

Only 1 in 7 people prescribed these medicines for nerve pain will notice a benefit, but even those who don’t see an improvement in their pain, may still experience side effects.
If you think any of this applies to you then please discuss with a Healthcare Professional who will support you to gradually reduce your medication.
DO NOT STOP THESE MEDICINES ABRUPTLY
