Harmony Clinic offers the Harmony test for parents who are concerned about downs syndrome and want an accurate non invasive procedure.

t is a simple, safe and accurate blood test that provides highly sensitive results in the detection of fetal trisomies with lower false positive and negative rates than any other screening test. The test is a simple blood sample taken from the mother at any time from 10 weeks of pregnancy and analysed for cell free fetal DNA, which is essentially a marker in the mother’s blood of the DNA of the baby. Women with pregnancies of at least 10 weeks gestational age can have Harmony Prenatal Testing and there is no upper limit for this test. The Harmony test involves an Ultrasound Scan to ensure the baby is at least 10 weeks gestation and a blood sample from the mother. Harmony Prenatal Testing is available to any singleton or twin pregnancy and includes donor-egg pregnancies and those conceived by IVF. There needs to be enough fetal DNA in the maternal blood to be able to provide a result. If there is insufficient fetal DNA in the sample (occurring in 3% of cases), another blood sample from the mother may be required. This will be processed in the laboratory at no extra charge. Test results will be available in around two weeks and will be reported by our Consultant Obstetrician Dr Evelyn Ferguson who will meet with you, discuss the results and conduct an additional ultrasound scan for your peace of mind. Harmony Prenatal Testing is an early and accurate non-invasive test that assesses the risk for chromosome conditions such as Down Syndrome and other trisomy conditions such as T18 Edwards & T13 Patau Syndrome. This early prenatal test also includes an optional analysis for determining fetal s*x and s*x chromosome conditions such as Turner Syndrome and Klinefelter Syndrome.
