Not all health tests are created equal.

In today’s fast-paced world, the rise of home testing kits has made health monitoring more accessible than ever. However, there’s a big difference between a ‘home test’ and a clinically validated screening test.

The British Journal of Medical and Health Research (The BMJ) has raised serious concerns about the growing availability of unregulated home testing kits. These kits, while convenient, can sometimes offer misleading results, lack clinical oversight, and risk causing unnecessary worry or false reassurance.

At Check4Cancer, we are not that kind of home testing provider. We understand the risks of poor testing and have spent over a decade building services that do things properly:

✔️ We've provided home cancer screening tests since 2014 – backed by trusted UK laboratories
✔️ Our labs are certified to ISO 15189, ISO 27001, and ISO 14001 standards
✔️ All our test kits are UKCA marked and clinically validated
✔️ We follow strict eligibility criteria and clinical governance protocols
✔️ Results are reviewed and, where necessary, delivered by experienced healthcare professionals – with clear support and onward referral when needed

We welcome today’s call for tighter regulation in this space. People deserve access to safe, clinically-led services they can trust – especially when it comes to something as serious as cancer.

If you're looking for early cancer detection you can trust, choose one that’s governed, guided, and grounded in evidence.

Because cancer checks should be delivered by cancer experts.

Shop-bought health kits for a wide range of conditions are readily available across the UK.

We’re sorry to hear about Fred’s diagnosis, but very pleased to hear that it has been caught early. Aware of his family history, Fred stayed on top of regular check-ups, and those very appointments caught his cancer at an early, highly treatable stage.

There’s a good chance that Fred’s foresight and proactive approach, and that of his doctors, will help stop his cancer in its tracks before it can progress and we wish him all the very best.

Men! Know your family history - what runs in your genes matters.
Schedule regular check-ups, especially if you’re at higher risk.

We offer men expert-led, fast, accurate screening services for prostate, bowel and lung cancer

Dense breast tissue poses two problems in breast cancer detection. Firstly, women with dense breast tissue are known to be at increased risk of developing breast cancer, but unfortunately, the presence of dense breast tissue makes breast cancer much harder to detect on conventional mammograms.

This new study from the University of Cambridge has shown that breast cancer could be identified by using different scanning methods following an injection in women who had been reassured following a traditional mammogram. Time will tell whether it becomes part of the newly proposed National Cancer Plan later this year.

Additional scans better tailored to spotting cancer in dense breasts could treble detection rates.

President Biden’s reported stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis is a powerful reminder of why early detection matters.

Prostate cancer is often highly treatable when found early, but it can develop without obvious symptoms.

If you’re over 50 or have a family history of prostate cancer, don’t wait to take action. Talk to your GP or explore trusted screening options that have been developed by prostate cancer specialists.

Early action really does save lives.
