Really pleased to share that The Let's Talk Project CIC has been awarded 420 native trees from the Woodland Trust 🌱

The trees will be planted on a section of riverside land in Bacup, Rossendale, that’s being permanently taken out of agricultural use.

Our volunteers and service users will be involved in the planting and ongoing care, using it as a practical, outdoor activity that supports mental wellbeing, connection and time to breathe.

The planting will also help improve biodiversity along the river and support a longer-term ambition to reinstate a section of an historic riverside footpath near Dog Pits Mill.

The project is also being supported by the team from GrowTraffic, which plants an average of six saplings per client per year to help offset the energy used by digital infrastructure, including server energy.

The trees will arrive in November and we’ll share more as planting plans take shape. Thanks to The Woodland Trust for backing something simple, practical and genuinely positive for the area.

A huge happy birthday to our Co-Owner & Co-Director Simon Dalley !

Simon, as vain as you are about your flowing locks, you rarely talk about the good you do for others. And yet, you do so much of it! As someone who has worked with you closely I have seen that good will and work many times, and I am truly proud to work with you and call you my friend. - Michael at Let's Talk.

Simon isn't celebrating with beer, instead he is attempting the hard and impressive task of walking Hadrian's Wall coast to coast.

He is doing this to raise the funds needed for the costs of our phone line, dbs checks and insurance.

If you can afford it please support Simon with this just giving link:

Walking Hadrian’s Wall for The Let’s Talk Project

As his main fundraising challenge of 2026, Simon will be walking Hadrian’s Wall in a couple of weeks to raise money for The Let’s Talk Project.

84 miles.
Coast to coast.
In winter.
Two days after his 45th birthday.
With Achilles heels that are… having opinions.

This is not a midlife crisis.
That’s scheduled separately.

The Let’s Talk Project exists for one simple reason:

* to make sure people have someone to talk * to when things feel heavy and they don’t know where else to turn.

No judgement.
No waiting lists.
Just listening.

For the last four years, our volunteers have spent countless hours sitting with people who are struggling. Volunteers come and go, but the core team remains. In that time, we’ve supported hundreds of people locally.

We don’t fix.
We don’t advise.
We turn up and listen.

Quietly. Consistently. And it works.

We no longer have a physical office, so our costs are lower. But the essentials still matter: insurance, accountancy, DBS checks, phone lines. The unglamorous bits that keep the service alive, safe and reachable. That’s what this walk is funding. The challenge itself felt right. Long. Exposed. Uncomfortable at times. A reminder that some things are hard, but still worth doing.
If you’re able to donate a few pounds, thank you - it genuinely helps.

If you can’t, sharing this post is just as valuable. Either way, thank you for supporting The Let’s Talk Project and helping us keep the service going.

January is hard.

The days are still short. The bills land. The weather drags. Money feels tighter. Motivation drops off a cliff. And suddenly all the things you managed to park over Christmas come knocking again.

For a lot of people, this is the toughest part of the year. Not dramatic. Just heavy. A quiet grind that wears you down.

We’re here for that bit.

No fixing. No judgement. No “have you tried thinking positively?”. Just space to talk, to breathe, and to not have to hold everything together on your own for an hour.

Our regular in-person sessions are back up and running, and we’re continuing to check in with people who need a bit of extra support right now.

If January is biting harder than you expected, that’s normal. You don’t have to carry it solo.

A chat. A listening ear.
That’s what we do.

And if you know someone who might need us, please pass it on. Sometimes that nudge is everything.

Christmas can be a wonderful time. It can also be a lonely, heavy, complicated time.

While most people were switching off, our team has been there for the people who needed us most. We’ve been checking in, listening and making sure no one felt they had to carry everything on their own.

A quiet chat. A phone call. A brew and a bit of company. Nothing dramatic. Just steady support when it’s needed.

Normal service restarts properly today, with our regular in-person conversations with our service users back up and running.

And we’ve also had a lovely surprise over the break. We’ll share more soon, but we’re really proud of what happened this weekend and what it means for the project.

Thank you to everyone who thinks of us, supports us, and trusts us enough to talk. It means more than you probably realise.

Walking Hadrian’s Wall To Keep Let’s Talk Going

As many of you know, The Let’s Talk Project has always relied on ordinary people doing extraordinary things to make sure our emotional support and listening service carries on.

This time, it’s Dalley’s turn again.

In 2025 he took on the National Three Peaks Challenge with two weeks notice to raise funds for The Let’s Talk Project CIC.

Dalley co-founded Let's Talk with Michael and he has quietly spent almost every Sunday with our service users, simply sitting alongside people, listening and helping them get through whatever life has thrown at them.

No fuss. No shouting about it. Just turning up, week after week. Without him, we couldn't keep doing what we do.

This February half-term, not long after his 45th birthday, Dalley is taking on his next challenge:

Hadrian’s Wall. Coast to coast. Eighty-four miles.

He’ll be raising money for us. We don’t have an office anymore, so our costs are lower. But we still need to cover things like insurance, accountancy and our phone numbers so people can continue to reach us when they’re struggling. These are the boring but essential bits that keep our service alive.

In theory, it’s a four-day walk. In reality, knowing Dalley, there will be plenty of stops to nose around forts, temples, museums and to check out those hypocaust systems. The wall has been there nearly two thousand years. He said it won’t mind if he takes his time about it!

We’re sharing this now as a heads-up. Over the next few weeks we’ll share more information about how you can support, sponsor and cheer him on.

And to everyone who has stood with us so far - thank you. You’re helping us make sure people around these parts have someone to listen and talk with when they need it.

Also, please remember, if you need support around the festive period, please:

• Message us on Facebook Messenger to speak to one of the team:
• Call us on 01706 558 022 daily between the times of 12pm - 10pm to talk to someone from our team. We will be available, but please be patient as we will be doing this around our family duties.

If we miss your call we will call back as soon as possible.
