Took this from the North Wales Wildlife Trust news letter and thought I would share

The power of nature

The science is in. Our natural world is not only the most awe-inspiring and fascinating aspect of planet earth nor just a home to an incredible and near infinite array of life ... it's also an incredibly powerful provider of health! Exposure to wildlife-rich land and seascapes can boost our brain and our mood, it can strengthen our immune system, lengthen our lifespan and even make us kinder and more generous!

Here are 5 evidence-based ways to wellbeing through nature:

1. Be Active..whether its going outside for a local walk or doing some gardening - get moving in nature!

Why? This can lower inflammation, cause a reduction in anxiety and depression and boost your mood!
We suggest: Exploring your local nature reserve.

2. Connect..with the people and the wildlife around you.
Why? This will help protect you against illness, social isolation and poorer health more generally
We suggest: Checking out our upcoming events.

3. Give..do something to help your local place and the people that live there.
Why?This will increase neuronal responses in the reward areas of the brain and boost happiness and life satisfaction.
We suggest: Becoming a volunteer.

4. Learn..try something new outside
Why? Learning is associated with: wellbeing; life satisfaction, optimism and self-efficacy; self-esteem and resilience
We suggest: Checking out our wildlife gardening page.

5. Take notice.. of the everyday wildness on your doorstep
Why? Mindfulness enhances self-understanding, reduces stress and improves mental health
We suggest: Use our spotter sheet to spot butterflies in your garden.

I have been wearing a mask every time I leave home since we were first asked to do so. I’m not sure why being considerate to others for the common good is now being mocked by some who are calling it β€œliving in fear”, but it needs to stop!!!... When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the stores/supermarkets/pharmacies etc - I want you to know the following:

πŸ”΅ I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus.

πŸ”΅ I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

πŸ”΅ I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same.

πŸ”΅ If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind, the whole world would be a much better place.

πŸ”΅ Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring and responsible.

πŸ”΅ When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member allowed at their bedside.....Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little by wearing a mask.

Their is a video going around today on youtube criticising a CPR demonstration carried out on national tv.

Please remember that the youtube creator by his own admission is in no way medically trained and rest assured that the demonstration that was done on the show did in fact demonstrate the correct way for members of the public to perform bystander CPR in accordance with the UK Resus Council guidelines.

For further information on covid safe bystander CPR please watch this video made by the Resus Council.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, you can still continue to learn and perform CPR using these simple steps. It's time to learn CPR right now, because you never k...
