PLEASE NOTE over the next few months the District Council will be inspecting and testing memorials in managed cemeteries and closed churchyards where we have a responsibility for health and safety. It is a legal requirement that all memorials are stable.

The process typically involves a visual inspection for damage and a gentle hand-pressure test to check for instability.

Following the test, if a headstone is found to be unsafe it will be laid down. We appreciate this is a sensitive matter and we will always notify the registered deed holder.

The Open Day offers a welcoming and informative opportunity to:

• Trace the final resting place of a loved one or ancestor.

• Discuss the options available for the disposal of cremated remains.

• Find out about our memorial schemes to commemorate loved ones.

• Learn more about the cremation process and help dispel any common worries or myths.

During the event, the team will be available to answer your questions about cremations, burials, and funeral services. You’ll also have the rare chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the crematorium and see how everything works with care and dignity.

Tour times: 11:00am, 11:30am, 12:00pm, and 12:30pm

Many people aren’t even aware that their local independent funeral director offers the same direct cremation services, let us assure you that this is something we have always offered.

Last week, Lewis had the privilege of conducting the funeral service for the late Mr. Geoffrey Mabbott in Tideswell.

Geoffrey was a true gentleman and a great enthusiast of all things steam, and it was an honour to arrange a service so fitting for his lifelong passion for steam engines.

Louisa Margaret Tindall
of Bakewell, passed away peacefully on 30th July 2025, aged 53 years.
A much-loved lady who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
A celebration of Louisa's life will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Ashford in the Water on Thursday 21st August at 11:30am.

Bringing the Jepson Teams Together

We recently hosted a BBQ for all our staff and their families — a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the people who make our business what it is today.

It was a proud moment for the Jepson family to see everyone gathered in one place and see the friendships that have formed across the branches. The weather may not have been perfect, but it certainly didn’t dampen the mood or the smiles!

We’re incredibly proud to employ over 50 local team members across all of our branches,this event was a reminder that we’re more than just a workplace — we’re a family.
