Following a call by a member of the public to Derbyshire Constabulary in Matlock, we were contacted early Friday evening about an extremely distressed melanistic Fallow deer buck that had managed to get its antlers wrapped round some blue rope. It was thrashing around at the end of 2.5m of rope and anchored to the surrounding trees, but more worryingly we could see it was caught round its throat aswell. A couple of bodyswerves and a few nifty sidesteps and we managed to reel it in close enough to get it restrained and cut the rope to free it. There were no obvious injuries other than some graises so after about five minutes destressing and getting itself calmed down it trotted of into the undergrowth. Good feeling for the end of the week/start of the weekend!
