Well it was a spooky week last week at BurtonCloses Hall in Bakewell.
We all had an amazing time celebrating Halloween.
The residents have been making Halloween decorations, making and decorating cakes and biscuits for our Halloween party.
We celebrated Halloween 🎃 at our baby bonding group held on Wednesday and we had a wonderful time dancing, singing and playing to spooky music 👻 The children dressed up in their Halloween costumes and they all had some treats from our residents.
Thursday we were busy doing last minute decorations, table lanterns, pumpkin carving and colouring pictures to display around the home.
Friday was our Halloween party and we all had a fantastic spooky time. All the residents had witches hats and we had a spooktacula table of delicious treats made by the residents.
The party was in full swing with party songs, games and spooky music and to finish the day we had some Halloween treats.
A great finish to a wonderful howlish 👻 week.
Thank you to everyone that came and supported our Halloween events.

So what have the residents and staff at Burton Closes Hall been upto this week?

Monday was move and groove morning, we have been singing dancing and reminiscing in this session. This week was Motown Monday 🎵followed by table dominos.

Tuesday is arts and crafts and we are preparing for Halloween 🎃 so making lots of spooky decorations. We had a little 4 legged and fury friend visit us today at Burton closes and he loved the cuddles and attention from the residents 🐶 In the afternoon it was out walking in Bakewell with one of the lovely residents. We came across some amazing views and the wildlife was fabulous, just check out the beautiful swans and ducks 🦆 on the river.

Wednesday we had our Bonding generations session with the lovely families, then we had a quick music and theme tune quiz with a little debate on football which was great fun ⚽️
In the afternoon it was our chocolate tasting session, the residents had to guess the chocolate and the names of the chocolate bars, they did great and enjoyed the chocolate treat as well .Then to finish the afternoon off we had a cuppa and chocolate crispy cake, winners all round!

Thursday morning we did some chalk drawing and a mixture of all crafts, from knitting, colouring painting and some lovely singing from the residents 🤩 for snack we had some bread to try as it was bread day , this went down really well with the residents and they had found a clear winner with the cheesy bread. In the afternoon we had a lovely church service celebrating the harvest of food. Thank you to our local church for delivering a fantastic service today.

One of our fabulous residents has been busy knitting hats and has made a hat for a fellow residents baby doll and has donated some hats to the local charity shops in Bakewell, which they were extremely grateful for. Amazing 🤩

Then came fun Friday!
Today has been a great 😊
We have had fun games all morning and with a little competition between residents vs staff it has been a fantastic morning.
We had bean bag target, tin can alley, roll the highest on the dice, slide the cup in the square, hit the balloon, balloon tennis, roll in the rope and to finish it off Flamingo hoops!

We had some great laughs and the residents loved it 😊 and some family members joined in as well which was amazing 🤩 The winners had to be the residents, they blew us away on the target and hit the balloon 🎈 5 points 1 clear winners of the day 🏆

A fabulous week full of fun and laughter and making wonderful memories.
Thank you to everyone who has took part in our activities this week and we are looking forward to next week 💕 wear pink Friday ! If you would like to join us at our next charity event for breast cancer please come along on Friday 24th Oct 10.30-12.30pm hope to see you there!

🎶 Both residents and staff love our singing and dancing mornings on Mondays and Fridays. This week it’s was 60s and 70s theme on Monday and Friday was party theme. We all enjoyed the YMCA and Delilah, it definitely brought back some great memories.

🎨 The residents at Burton Closes love the arts and crafts mornings. Last week we have did some stencilling, model making and we have a few ladies that love to colour in pictures. We will be displaying some of their master pieces on our notice boards for everyone to enjoy.

🏆 This week one of our wonderful residents had a fantastic idea to have a resident vs staff fun Friday morning. This will be starting this week, this includes games, singing, dancing what ever we can think of to have fun with a little friendly competition! The residents had a little practice at the target 🎯 games and may I say we may need alot of practice as they were amazing 🤩

👶🏻 And not forgetting our wonderful bonding generations group we have every Wednesday. The residents absolutely love this session and meeting families and interacting with babies and families it is just heart warming ❤️. Thank you to all the wonderful parents who support this group we love seeing you at our groups.
