2. Our sister practice Rose House Dental is open 24th December so feel free to call them
as they will see you

Did you ever wonder why a toothache sometimes turns into a headache?

The answer lies in the trigeminal nerve, one of the largest and most complex nerves in the head. This nerve carries sensory signals from the face, including your teeth, jaw, and gums, straight to the brain. When a tooth is inflamed or infected, it can overstimulate the trigeminal nerve, which may then trigger pain signals that spread to the head, causing a headache.

The solution take painkillers in the first instance if you can and need it and then book yourself an emergency appointment so that we can resolve the dental issue.

Did you know you shouldn’t rinse your mouth after using toothpaste? If your parents taught you to rinse with water ( like mine did) then this means the fluoride in the toothpaste is not given a chance to strengthen your teeth.

Remember going abroad to get dental treatment may seem cost effective initially but in the long run are you going back to them if that treatment goes wrong? Our dentists assess on a case by case basis whether they can deal with complications of dental treatment carried out abroad- in most cases we will not be able to treat as the workmanship is so bad.

When considering dental treatment abroad ask yourself these questions:

1. Do they have the right qualifications? Have you checked them out on a dental register?

2. Do they follow clinical standards?

3. Do they use good safe quality materials? Can they guarantee their work?

4. Do they follow good infection control and sterilising methods? We have so many procedures and policies in place to ensure that safety, cleanliness and quality is our main focus.

Can you guarantee that the place you visit abroad is?

Nearly every dentist is seeing the results of dental tourism.

✈️Our surveys show 95% of dentists have examined patients who have travelled abroad for dental treatment.

✈️Of those 86% say they have treated cases that developed complications.

✈️Patients need to understand the risks.

Have you been given doxycycline for a dental issue? Then did you know that you can develop photosensitivity ( allergy to the sun) as one of the side effects? This can be mild or a severe red sun burnt rash which can appear on your face. To avoid this please use sun lotion when going outdoors and adequate protection including sun hats. Contact your GP should this happen whilst taking antibiotics.

Hopefully our patients received their summer 2025 update - unlike other companies we don’t bombard you with emails instead every 6 months (or so) we send you information about what’s happening with us and any updates.

The latest update we have is- we have taken over The Dental Practice, 125 Norton Way South, Letchworth, SG6 1SU. Formally owned by Dr Rao ( who is still running clinics).

We are working on a major refurb but starting with small changes including a new name : Rose House Dental

We aim to replicate what we have at Mews House Dental and offer patients in Letchworth, Hitchin, Henlow and the surrounding areas with the best private dental care for patients and their family.

Time passes quickly - if it has been over 6 months since you last visited us then we recommend a dental check up.

Our ethos has always been prevention is better for your dental health. To ensure your teeth and gums are healthy we recommend coming every 6 months. After all you use your teeth every day so why wouldn’t you MOT your teeth?
