Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy, an energy which is all around us. Reiki is a system of natural healing which( evolved in Japan from the teachings of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student. Universal life energy (reiki) nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us and we experience a sense of well-being. There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki works at bringing us into balance and is believed therefore to reinforce the body’s natural ability to heal itself at all levels, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment, all you need is the desire to be healed. A Reiki Treatment
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. The treatment can also be given in a sitting position if needs be. The most important thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions over the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment takes 1½ hours with each hand position held for several minutes. Consultation time of ten minutes before and ten minutes after the Reiki treatment is included in the 1 or 1.5 hour sessions.

Indian head massage is a complementary medicine massage therapy. In an Indian Head Massage, the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. The goal is to clear blockages in these energy channels that can cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments. The belief is when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, sleep difficulties, muscle pain and nociception pains and headaches. Indian Head Massage is practiced all over Europe and was brought to the west by Narendra Mehta in the 1970's. Indian Head Massage is done with the client sitting comfortably in a chair and can be done with our without oils depending on the clients wishes. Clients remain fully-clothed and special needs can be accommodated. Benefits of Indian Head Massage include: tension relief, stress reduction, increase in blood flow to the upper body and head, improved circulation, relaxes muscles and improves posture, increases flexibility and improves joint mobility, reduces toxins and increases lymphatic flow to upper body and head, slows down breathing and lowers blood pressure, increases oxygen to the brain, relieves mental fatigue, can help reduce pain, raises mood by stimulating endorphin release from the brain and can restore balance, calmness and the flow of energy. This is a very relaxing Eastern Body massage of the face, hands and feet while lying on a massage table. NB. Cancellations made any later than two full days before the appointment will be charged at 50% of the normal treatment cost (as a small business I rely on having every slot filled and if someone cancels less than two days in advance this is too short notice for me to schedule someone else in and this is a big financial loss to a small business.
