Are you myopic, or more commonly known as short-sighted? 👓
If you are myopic, you may have difficulty seeing things further away (e.g. TV, cinema, driving) without your glasses.
We are recruiting 18-40-year-old myopic adults, whose prescriptions are continuing to get worse, to take part in our two-year research study at Ulster University, Coleraine Campus.
Typically, myopia progression is greatest in childhood and gradually slows down into adulthood. However, we know that about 1 in 5 myopic adults still show signs of progression. Recently, there have been advances in the lenses that we prescribe for children with myopia to slow down progression and we would like to see if these lenses work for adults too.
Potential benefits of taking part:
· Your short-sightedness may progress more slowly while wearing the study lens
· Free Ray-Ban spectacle frames
· Small monetary contribution towards travel expenses
Full details of the project are available in the Participant Information Sheet (linked below). If you are interested in taking part in our study or would like more information, please email j.fulton@ulster.ac.uk.
If you are an Optometrist willing to help keep an eye out for potential participants, please also get in touch and we can send through some more detailed information.
