❓Does Cracking your Joints lead to Arthritis❓

We all know that one person who’s never done cracking their knuckles and a lot of you reading this have probably been told that doing so will lead to the dreaded arthritis😱

✅ The truth is, research shows that while the noise may not be the most pleasant, it’s relatively harmless. The sound and feeling is often just gas bubbles within the joint fluid collapsing or tendons moving over the bone, not your bones “cracking”.

This clicking is usually painless, however if you are experiencing clicking of a joint and it’s causing pain or swelling it may be worth while letting an expert check it out as it may be something underlying.

On Monday we touched on how today’s society forces us to sit more than it forces us to be active and how that can cause pain in the lower back.

So we thought why not show you how you should sit, meet Ross and Rachel.

🧔‍♂️Ross
❌Likes to Slouch forward in his chair and has a very rounded upper spine and very flat lower spine
❌Daily pain in his back while he works and is starting to develop chronic back issues
❌Neck Pain and Migraines daily
❌Hips Feel as if they will need replaced by 40 years old
❌Can’t concentrate on his Job

👩‍🦰Rachel
✅Maintains a neutral spine position when seated
✅ No lower back pain while working and has a healthy moving spine
✅No Neck pain or Migraines
✅Joints feel mobile
✅Full of energy and focus

I’m not sure about you but I would far rather be a Rachel than a Ross.

MYTH: The best way to recover from injury is to use the R.I.C.E principle (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation).

❌While R.I.C.E may work for small bumps and knocks, what if I told you it just simply isn’t up to injury recovery standards, what if I told you there was something better….

PEACE and LOVE, the new gold standard for injury recovery.

P.E.A.C.E (Days 1-3 Post Injury)

✅P- Protect: Limit Movement to prevent further damage
✅E- Elevate: Raise the injury above the heart to help with reducing swelling
✅A- Avoid Anti-inflammatories
✅C- Compression
✅E- Educate: Learn the importance of active recovery set realistic expectations

L.O.V.E (Day 4 Onwards)

✅L- Load: Gradually reintroduce movement that doesn’t cause too much pain
✅O- Optimism: Keep a positive mindset
✅V- Vascularisation: Gentle cardio to increase blood flow
✅E- Exercise: Restore strength, mobility and proprioception.

This method helps to promote healing to get your recovery back on track.

👉Remember- Injuries don’t need RICE, they need PEACE and LOVE ❤️

One of the most common sports injuries we see here in the clinic? 👉 Ankle sprains.

The good news is they can be preventable.

👋 Hi everyone! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted, but I’m excited to be back.

For those of you that have been in the clinic you will know all to well that I like to set challenges whether that be with injury rehab or in training, with that in mind I thought I’d stick to my own principles and set myself a bit of a challenge….

Throughout the month of September (and going forward 😉) I’ve set myself the challenge of being a lot more active on my social media pages as they have probably been dryer than the Sahara desert recently.

So keep an eye out every Monday, Wednesday and Friday where I’m going to be sharing some helpful tips, stories, and behind-the-scenes moments.

Client Spotlight

Emma came to me in August of 2024 wanting to lose weight for her upcoming wedding following some disappointing results elsewhere.

Emma got stuck right in, loosing a stone in her first month however hit a bit of a rough health patch along the way. Thankfully she didn’t let it stop her and as soon as she was back on her feet she was back in the gym.

Emma had managed to lose 25kg from August to April and has smashed every goal I’ve set her so far. Infact since these photos were taken she’s managed to drop an extra 4 kilo making it a whopping 29kg in total and is still striving for more aiming for completing a hyrox after her wedding!!

Keep smashing it Emma 💪

👋Meet Christopher,
Christopher has been a client of mine since September 2024 and was born with a condition called Thumb Hypoplasia, a condition where his thumb was non functional.

📅Since September Christopher has managed to check off some amazing accomplishments that he never thought were possible
