Menopause affects nearly half the population — yet it’s still largely missed in the conversation. Sometimes mentioned, but rarely embedded in policy, legislation, or workplace standards.

For organisations serious about retention, leadership, and inclusive culture, this is a critical blind spot. Menopause isn’t just a health issue — it’s a workforce, economic & strategic issue. 💼💪

💗 Struggling in midlife? You’re not alone.

New UK research shows almost 2 in 3 women over 50 are struggling with their mental health - often linked to menopause, brain fog, anxiety, poor sleep, and major life changes.

Yet nearly 9 in 10 don’t seek help. Many feel they have to “hold it together” or stay silent.

Menopause can seriously affect mood, confidence and mental wellbeing - and when support is missing, the impact can be huge.

A huge thank you to NIRWN for having me deliver the Menopause and Me 5-week online programme. What an incredible evening with a fantastic group of women!

It’s such a pleasure to be in a space where women can talk openly about menopause in a safe and supportive environment. I’m really looking forward to continuing our sessions over the next four weeks.

The first session of our online Menopause & Me programme took place last night and saw an excellent turnout.

Participants enjoyed an informative evening filled with valuable information, practical advice and engaging discussions.

🌸 Trusted Nutrition Advice for Menopause 🌸

There’s a lot of confusion and misinformation about diet and menopause - so it’s great to see Registered Dietitian Jill Stewart and the Public Health Dietitians Group Northern Ireland sharing clear, evidence-based guidance for women.

They’ve developed two short, practical videos based on the latest research, exploring how diet and lifestyle can support health and wellbeing during menopause.

✅ Practical diet and nutrition tips to manage menopause symptoms
💪 How food choices and lifestyle can support long-term bone and heart health
🌿 The evidence behind nutritional supplements and soya products

🌸 Excellent news – and a fabulous start!

Including menopause in routine NHS Health Checks is a huge step forward for women’s health across England.

It means millions of women will finally have the opportunity to talk openly about symptoms, access accurate advice, and get the care and support they need during perimenopause and menopause.

👏 This is exactly the kind of proactive, preventative healthcare we need - recognising menopause as a key part of women’s health and wellbeing, not an afterthought.

💬 The question now is - when will we see this implemented in Northern Ireland?

Women here deserve the same access to menopause-informed healthcare, delivered through a joined-up system that empowers clinicians and supports women to thrive through midlife and beyond.

Let’s make sure Northern Ireland is not left behind.

It’s time for our Health and Social Care leaders to commit to the same level of menopause awareness, training and preventative support within routine health checks.

This would be a game-changer for women’s health, workplace wellbeing and equality here.

Huge credit to Menopause Mandate for their tireless campaigning to make this happen 👏💜

Menopause advice will be added to free health checks to help millions of women get the care they need.

We celebrated World Menopause Day with a room full of special woman, speakers and exhibitors.

💗 A huge thank you to Gwyneth Hinds for her generosity in donating copies of her book to support women attending our World Menopause Day event this Saturday.

This insightful book explores many of the common symptoms of menopause - from brain fog and genito-urinary changes to aches, pains and hot flushes - and offers practical tools to help women have informed conversations with their doctors.

It also highlights the importance of caring for your gut microbiome, and how the foods you eat and the exercise you take can make a real difference to your health and wellbeing - not just during menopause, but well beyond it.

We’re so grateful to Gwyneth for helping us empower women with knowledge and confidence on their menopause journey. 💕
