Service Update ✨

As we come into summer I have some additional availability. I have introduced a new service too - a ‘sensory chat’ 😊

What is it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

A sensory chat is a shorter 1:1 session than the sensory consultation. An opportunity for you to chat through any sensory queries or questions you may have, with a smaller investment.

A wonderful final morning with Rumbles Autism Group today 😊 I’ve really enjoyed my time with them over the past few months - Katie has put so much effort into providing a safe, nurturing environment for so many little ones and they are thriving ✨

This morning 15 parents attended to hear about our 8 sensory systems and how we can support little ones who display over/under-responsive behaviours. It was informal, relaxed and wonderful peer discussions were had between parents and carers 🙌🏼

On Thursday this week I had the absolute pleasure of returning to Rumbles Autism Playgroup to complete an evening information session on sensory for their parents and carers.

A wonderful evening filled with great conversation around sensory and peer support - which is so important. It can be so beneficial to hear another parent say “me too!” when it comes to managing sensory behaviours - particularly difficult ones.

I’m back 👋🏼 Let’s Talk Sensory was put slightly to the side this summer as I focused on - what a joy it has been supporting so many mummies to support their baby’s development.

There is still availability for sensory consultations - a fantastic way to discuss your child’s individual needs and ways in which you can support them. I am also available for any staff information sessions on Sensory Regulation.

This week I had the pleasure of attending to do a parent workshop on sensory regulation alongside . There were some great questions and it was fantastic to get information out on how we can help our little ones regulate themselves 🤩

I have increased initial assessment availability over the summer months ☀️ Get in contact if you have any questions or if you’re not sure how I can help 😊 an initial assessment completed over the summer is fantastic timing for going back to school and helping regulation in the classroom 💗

👅 Gustatory Sense 👅

Our gustatory sense receives input through our tongue.

⭐️ Examples of Seeking Behaviours ⭐️
Seeking out strong tastes like citrus and spices. Not recognising when flavours are strong that others may find difficult to take.

🚫 Examples of Avoiding Behaviours 🚫
These individuals may avoid certain strong tastes - they may come across as ‘picky eaters’.

There are many strategies that can help someone who avoids or seeks out strong tastes, if it’s impacting their daily function. Contact me for more information 🙌🏼
