What if your child’s outbursts weren’t a problem… but a message?

When a child feels angry, overwhelmed, or “flipped their lid,” their brain is in survival mode — fight, flight, or freeze.

Reasoning won’t work in that moment. They just need to feel safe again.

Simple strategies can help regulate emotions:

Crunchy snacks 🥕
Cold drinks 🥶
Movement & stretching 🤸‍♂️

In The Big Roar of Little Bear animation, Little Bear shows how to self-soothe through crunching, wiggling, squeezing, and resting teaching children their bodies have natural ways to feel safe.

Sometimes big feelings have deeper roots. Play therapy can provide safe space to explore and process emotions.

When Little Bear realises he is all alone 💔

His tummy flips.
His paws freeze.
His heart pounds so loudly it fills his ears.

This is what separation anxiety can feel like inside a child’s body.
Even when they are with safe adults…
Even when you’ve only stepped away for a moment…
Their nervous system is saying:
“I’m not safe unless YOU are here.”
If your child struggles to leave you, clings at the door, or becomes overwhelmed at drop-offs — they are not being difficult.
They are feeling alone, just like Little Bear.

Separation anxiety isn’t about behaviour.
It’s about connection, safety, and a body that doesn’t yet know how to calm itself without you.

💛 You are not alone.
💛 Your child is not broken.
💛 With support, this gets easier.

What is Play Therapy?

When children feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry, or sad, they often don’t have the words to explain what’s happening inside. Instead, those feelings come out through behaviour.

In play therapy, a trained therapist creates a safe, accepting space where children can express themselves through play at their own pace. Through stories, art, movement, and symbolic play, children can process big emotions, make sense of difficult experiences, and begin to heal.
It may look like “just playing” but deep emotional work is happening underneath.

Play therapy can help children with anxiety, trauma, loss, behavioural difficulties, low confidence, and many other challenges.
Because when children feel understood, they don’t just cope… they thrive.

Sometimes children don’t cry or cling…

they just go quiet.

When a child feels overwhelmed or alone, their body may “switch off” to cope.

Little Bear finds his grounding pebble, a small reminder that he is still connected, still safe, still loved.

Does your child have something that helps them feel brave when you’re not there?
