Had the privilege to attend another meeting at Stormont helping address the challenges facing the bereaved and Funeral Directors in Northern Ireland.

We are delighted to announce the first meeting yesterday of the newly convened All Party Group (APG) for Funerals and Bereavement at the Northern Ireland Assembly, with the secretariat fully funded by the NAFD.

The group contains a vibrant mix of funeral directors, embalmers and Members of the Legislative Assembly.

On the agenda were Competition and Markets Authority non-compliance and the taxi licensing legislation review. The group also decided action points around the ongoing delays to two new chapels of rest at Roselawn Crematorium in Belfast and the delays in implementing cremation regulations.

This was a very positive meeting, which bodes well for the future. Keep an eye on our channels to hear more, especially in early Autumn when we've pencilled in the next meeting.

Did you know?

March 11th is recognised as National Funeral Director Recognition Day.

We want to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to all our staff here at James McMullan & Son and also to all who help us daily by preparing graves, clergy, musicians, mortuary staff and all those who help in any way.

A big thank you to all of you for all you do to help bereaved families, especially over the last few years.

CHALLENGE COMPLETED!
Well last weekend we completed our 1000 Challenge for Marie Curie. And more! We walked and cycled a total of 1175 miles. At times it was easy but at times it was challenging! However we all enjoyed it. We want to thank you all for your encouragement and your donations. Funds raised so far are over £1900 with some more pledged! We are going to keep this open for a few more days, in case anyone hasn't had a chance to donate. Marie Curie is a terrific cause and we are fortunate to have such an organization to help when the need arises.
Thank you. Andrew

This week's selfie is from Melanie and Kathryn on one of their walks 'roon the toon'.

1,000 MILES IN 30 DAYS FOR MARIE CURIE!
Hi everyone,
As we move through the summer quickly, we have decided to set ourselves a challenge and in doing so, raise some money for Marie Curie.
We have heard and witnessed first-hand, as we serve the community, the challenging work, dedication and devotion of the Marie Curie nurses and especially over the last 18 months of the pandemic.
Andrew, Noleen, Kenneth, Melanie and Kathryn are going to cycle and walk 1,000 miles (collectively) in 30 days starting tomorrow 20th August.
If you feel you wish to support and encourage us, you can donate online through our website @ https://www.mcmullanfunerals.com/fundraising
or you can drop it in to the office or by post marked ‘1,000 mile challenge'" or just leave a message of support.
