GRACE TO SLOW

And space to grow…

I cancelled a big plan today, on publication day, because I have over-stretched myself. I was honest about why, apologetic, and offered to compensate of course. The lady in question was understanding, kind and gracious and my soul has thanked me all day for giving myself grace and space to exist, without expectation. I’m grateful to this woman for that soft landing and to myself for the care. I will be sure to return that favour a soon as I can.

I wanted to share it with you all because in the past I would have been ashamed and either lied or pushed through to the detriment of my own health and stress levels. I always needed to be seen as a superwoman, capable and strong. Now I am open and honest about my flaws or my boundaries and more often than not, I can anticipate my own needs in advance, so cancellation is unnecessary.

But when it is, please do it, if you can. Without causing anyone else too much issue, of course - or cost.

I never know how things will truly affect me until I'm there - and wandering around London today, on my own for an hour, was blissful. Silent. Soothing. Regenerative. I was able to see things, really see things and allow my thoughts to form an orderly V, like geese finding their formation.

And now I am ready for my launch night and raring to go. Instead of harassed and depleted.

We are not machines and reliability is a wonderful thing but rarely does the nervous system care about that. We need space to grow. And the grace to slow.

Thank you all for your beautiful support today, I have felt the energy and it’s fed my own.

(There have been a few signs recently which have assured me this book is in its own light; most poignantly the ladybird on my arm at 11.11 and the feather which appeared as I began my book signing. Lovely to know I’m being held. I hope you feel held too because we are, we really are.)

I popped into a salon earlier and this little pooch was there - free therapy!
