We are currently recruiting for a Funeral Operative to join our prestigious Funeral Director firm based in Bamber Bridge, Preston.

With over 100 years of history across four generations our business remains proudly family run. Delivering a compassionate and professional service to people in their greatest time of need. Our business is currently recruiting for a Funeral Operative to join our warm and welcoming team at our beautiful premises, based in the heart of Bamber Bridge.

As our Funeral Operative the role will include;

Transferring a loved one from the place of death and bringing them to into our care

Ordering coffins, coffin accessories, gowns, supplies and more

Preparing and fitting coffins, including engraving nameplates

Receiving coffins and other deliveries

Maintaining a high standard of washing, cleaning, polishing, and driving vehicles

Receiving cremated remains and transferring into the appropriate casket or urn

Liaising with the Funeral Directors to ensure records are kept up to date

Assisting the Funeral Director with pre-funeral checks including route planning and address checking

Taking part in our on call rota

These are just some of the ways a funeral service operative will help to ensure our services runs smoothly.

Due to the nature of our industry, we are keen to find someone who is determined to deliver a first class customer experience to people when they need it the most. Organisational skills and a keen attention to detail are a must. You will need to be able to work under pressure, balance and prioritise workload and be comfortable working independently.
We require a full UK driving license. Physically able to lift and carry heavy weights in accordance with manual handling procedures. Ideally familiar with the local community. Someone who is reliable, well presented and demonstrates empathy, not sympathy in sensitive situations.

- Full time, permanent position 37.5 hours with on call

“For well over 100 years the family name of Wilde was synonymous with everything that was beneficial about dealing with an independent funeral director at your time of greatest need. When Roy Wilde retired some 10 years ago, the business was sold to a holding company based in East Yorkshire. Our old business changed hands a number of times after that but while I strived to maintain the family atmosphere and dedicated service provided, it proved impossible because of the size of the organisation which owned the business. My wife Wendy and I decided we would establish Ian Wilde Independent Funeral Directors, which is now the only independent, family run funeral directors within the Bamber Bridge area.”
