Bampton Wellbeing Walks

A bit of mist and fog today but that won’t stop us! Some moody photos today rather than glorious views around Bampton. We walk every Monday and offer shorter or longer walks. Our long walk today was just over 3.5 miles

It may be the middle of Winter but we still go out for our walks every Monday. You may not be aware that all of our volunteer walk leaders are trained and all of our walks are risk assessed. This helps ensure all of our walks are as safe as possible for all of our walkers. We continue to monitor the prevailing conditions due to weather and check out the condition of stiles and gates. We can enjoy what Bampton has to offer but be aware of risks that exist such as the “swimming pool” on Ford Road, and ice on the path from Ashleigh Park leading up towards Three Corners Farm.

The weather is looking fine tomorrow! Why not join us for a walk tomorrow morning leaving the LARC at 10:30? No need to bring umbrellas unless you need them to keep the sun off you.

Sometimes when we do our walks on a Monday we see something a little bit special! This was a couple of weeks ago and taken by one of our volunteer walk leaders, Colin.

Our short walk on Monday took us down Brook Street to the bridge, where we were delighted to see a grey wagtail. Then on via New Buildings and the public footpath to Bill Weston’s field. Unfortunately there were some very small calves in the field so we could not cross. We retraced our steps, then went round via Ford Road to take a closer look at the calves. Then back to LARC for coffee.

An option for an even longer walk on Easter Monday. Please note you’ll need to book for this one and it has an earlier start time and location.

Our usual wellbeing walks will depart the LARC on the same day at 10:30, but you can just turn up for those on the day.

💙💛 Why not join our guided walk this Easter Monday? 💛💙
The walk will be approximately 7 to 8 miles and leaves at 10 am. After a lovely walk around Bampton seeing the signs of Spring you will be welcomed back with hot drinks and homemade cakes. What's not to like!!
Our walks are free, although we do appreciate donations towards keeping the Heritage Centre running.

Something a little bit different today. We borrowed the Exmoor Community Bus to take us to Dulverton to do our walks from there. Here are some photos from our longer walk which took us up to Oldbury Castle and gave us some lovely views of the River Barle

The weather forecast is looking great for Monday! What better day could there be to do your first wellbeing walk in Bampton. We leave the LARC at 10:30 and have a short walk of around 45 minutes and a longer one that is typically 3-4 miles. Here a some photos from last week when we were lucky enough to see a large herd of deer.,
