🌑✨ New Moon Reflections | Jyotish Perspective ✨🌑

In Jyotish (Vedic astrology), each new moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle — a moment when the Sun and Moon align, and the light of the Moon is completely hidden.

This is considered a time of inner stillness, quiet reflection, and new beginnings. While full moons tend to heighten energy and emotion, the new moon offers a chance to reset, release, and set subtle intentions for the weeks ahead.

It’s a beautiful time to:
🌱 Slow down and rest
📝 Journal or reflect on the past cycle
🧘🏽‍♀️ Connect with your inner voice through practice and stillness

✨ This Month’s New Moon in Gemini (Mithuna Rāśi) ✨

Today’s new moon falls in the sign of Gemini — known as Mithuna in Sanskrit. Ruled by Mercury (Budha), Gemini is associated with:
🗣 Communication
🧠 Learning and thinking
🧭 Curiosity and movement

With both Sun and Moon here, we’re invited to explore our mental patterns, the way we express ourselves, and how we connect with others and the world around us.

This is an ideal time to:
💭 Reflect on your internal dialogue
📚 Start a new study or learning practice
🌬 Tune into your breath and the subtle energies of the mind

💫 Whether you mark the new moon with a quiet cup of tea, a few rounds of conscious breathing, or a full ritual, this is a time to gently return to yourself. Let go of what’s no longer needed, and honour what is quietly emerging.

Wishing you a grounded and spacious new moon 🌑🕊

🌀 Rest is a Radical Act 🌀

In a world that glorifies hustle, choosing rest is revolutionary. Rest isn't laziness — it's nourishment, healing, and resistance.

At Temple of Yoga, we honour rest as a sacred practice. Our Yin Yoga and Conscious Rest classes are an invitation to pause, breathe deeply, and reset your nervous system.

We are honoured to welcome Swami Mahavir for a special seminar exploring the Power of Mantra—an immersive insight into the ancient yogic practice of sacred sound.

In this lecture, Swami Mahavir will guide us through the philosophy, science, and spiritual significance of mantra.

Drawing from the Vedic and yogic traditions, he will explain how mantras function not only as tools for concentration, but also as vehicles for transformation—shifting energy, calming the nervous system, and awakening deeper states of awareness.

With decades of experience in the monastic tradition, Swami Mahavir brings warmth, clarity, and depth to his teaching.

Whether you are completely new to mantra or wish to deepen your existing practice, this is a rare opportunity to learn directly from a respected teacher rooted in the living tradition.

All are welcome. No previous experience is necessary.

This class is offered in exchange for a donation of what you can afford.

We are so excited to welcome Louise back to the Temple of Yoga team 🥰💚

Those of you who were with us in our original space back in 2018-2022 will remember her wonderful Yin classes. Well, great news, she starts back with us after Easter on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.

What is Yin yoga?
Yin yoga targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians through passive, longer-held poses. You will be mostly floor-based, using props such as blocks and bolsters to support the body in poses held for up to five minutes. Expect to feel deep sensation, and a deep sense of release.

This class is suitable for everyone and perfect as an antidote to busy lives, stress and anxiety. The longer holds are also perfect if you eant to improve ypur flexibility, whether you spend all day sitting or have tight achey muscles from the gym or playing sport.

I will be there on the regular! I hope to see some of you there too.

Link to book in bio as always 🙏

✨ Ecstatic Dance & Yoga: A Perfect Pairing ✨

Ever felt like your yoga practice could use a little more freedom and expression? That’s where ecstatic dance comes in! 💃🕺 Unlike structured dance styles, ecstatic dance is all about moving however feels right—no choreography, no judgement, just pure, intuitive movement.

Much like yoga, it helps you connect with your body, but instead of holding postures or following the teacher, you surrender to rhythm and flow. It’s a powerful way to release stuck energy, tap into joy, and explore movement as meditation. 🌊✨

Yoga brings stillness and awareness; ecstatic dance brings expression and freedom. Together, they create a beautiful balance of structure and spontaneity—grounding you in the present while setting your spirit free. 🌀

We are so looking forward to the next instalment of ecstatic dance with Coleridge at the studio tomorrow morning. There's still time to join us if you feel called to do so!

🌟 Exploring Your Edge in Yoga & the Power of Tapas 🌟

In yoga, we often hear the phrase "explore your edge." But what does it truly mean?

Your edge is the place where comfort meets challenge—the sweet spot where growth begins. It's not about pushing yourself to the point of pain but gently leaning into discomfort, where the magic of transformation happens. This practice requires Tapas—the discipline, passion, and inner fire that fuels our commitment to show up, even when it's not easy.

Tapas reminds us that growth often lies on the other side of resistance. Each time we hold a pose a little longer, take one more conscious breath, or step onto our mat when we’d rather not, we honor this fiery principle.

Through Tapas, we learn that exploring our edge isn't just about physical flexibility—it's about expanding our mental and emotional boundaries too. It's the courage to face challenges with curiosity, to sit with discomfort, and to embrace the lessons within.

As you practice this week, ask yourself:
🌱 Where is my edge, and how can I explore it mindfully?
🔥 How can I bring Tapas into my practice and daily life?

Join us at the Temple of Yoga Studio to deepen your understanding of these principles in a supportive and compassionate environment. Let's ignite our inner fire and grow together!

✨ What does exploring your edge mean to you? Share in the comments—we’d love to hear your thoughts!
