Over the last two years Edd's eldest daughter Daisy has been using her spare days, whilst not at college, assisting our front of house team Jackie and Marcelli with enquiries and the day to day happenings within the business.

This week Edd was delighted to bring Daisy into the business as a full time member of the team where her journey will now begin.

We are now lucky enough to also have a father and son, mother and daughter, husband and wife, brothers, brother and sister and multiple cousins now within our team here which we are tremendously proud of.

The team all wish Daisy well as she begins her learning of the wider aspects within the funeral profession from her colleagues here and once more strengthening the ties only we, as a family run business, are so proud to offer here in Banbury and Brackley.

Wherever you may live, in a town or village, each of these places will have characters that mean so much to so many people. These people may be actively involved with local organisations or just kind souls that will be known and remembered by many for what they do and offer their community.

Recently Kings Sutton has lost two members from their community within the same family.
Sharon Ellis and Walter Mullis.

Sharon passed away so suddenly and unexpected and her loss shook the community, then only days later her father Walter Mullis passed away which we can only think was a result of the sudden shock of losing his precious daughter.

Both Sharon and Walter commanded strong send offs in their own right and this past week we were able to help the family and the entire village community come together in order to say their own goodbyes at each service.

I have said many times in the past that often our role as funeral directors within the community can overlap by suffering the loss of friends and family members we live alongside. In these cases my colleagues Paul and Chris Cousins, both long standing members of Kings Sutton, have had to battle their own emotions whilst meeting with the families and making the funeral arrangements of Sharon and Walter.

Both Paul and Chris were members of The Boys Brigade that Walter ran for many years and, over the years, gently guided hundreds of children through the Boys Brigade ways sending them out into the world teaching them the rights and wrongs in life and to be kind and fair.

Sharon was a similar age to Paul and they grew up together in the village and over the years to their children grew up together enabling Chris to also experience Walter’s guiding hand in those early years through The Boys Brigade which undoubtedly has shaped the person he has become today.

For both Chris and Paul to involve themselves this week with Sharon and Walter’s funeral services gave them their personal opportunities to return the loving care and support to the family that both Sharon and Walter gave in life and to say thank you.

Personally for me Walter has been a gentleman I have got to know professionally over the past 18 years. By his attendance at many local funerals and for his knowledge and assistance at the Kings Sutton Baptist Church and for his knowledge of burials within the burial ground situated behind the chapel, which has been of great help.

Both Sharon and Walter will be missed hugely and the community will feel this loss deeply for years to come. It showed with the two exceptionally large funeral services at The Baptist Church in Kings Sutton this week how well loved they both were.

All of our thoughts and wishes go to Sharon and Walter’s family at this sad time and my grateful thanks for allowing us to share our thoughts and photos from Walter’s service on Friday.

We were deeply grateful that the family asked us to assist with both funeral arrangements. To hear that Walter had specially written down that Chris was to oversee his funeral wishes was a huge acknowledgement to Chris himself and heart warming for me to see how far we as a company have come within our short time to demonstrate that our services and the way we do things are indeed appreciated and requested by those long standing members of within our community.

Thank you so much.
