Meditation is REALLY simple. All you have to do is breathe and feel. That's it. Anything else like thoughts, judgements, worry, beliefs, attachments (to the way it ought to be) are all part of your unconsciousness (your ego or inner resistance).

As you can see, meditation is simple, but not easy, as YOU get in YOUR way. This then also asks a more profound spiritual question, who is the YOU and YOUR in this situation?

Came across this poem by the 13th Century Persian poet Rumi called The Guest.

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning is a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thoughts, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Today, some of my own writing, in this post about fear. EVERYONE has fear. That is not the point. The point is are you aware how much fear holds you back, how much fear controls your life? Fear is insidious and soaks into the very fabric of your everyday life. Be it fear of rejection, fear of making a mistake, fear of not being accepted for who you are, fear of not being good enough, fear of not being liked, not being loved, fear of your own potential. You can't conquer your own fear, that is just your unconscious mind (your ego) talking. Instead you need to relax and feel the fear in your body (which is not easy). Then can you accept that you have fear, can you acknowledge the fear inside of you. It is simple to do but not easy, as you are up against yourself. If you are able to manage this, then you will become aware of how some of your fear melts away, giving you more freedom.
