Persistent bloating.
Pelvic pain.
Feeling full quickly.

These symptoms are often explained away — but if they are new, persistent (most days for 3+ weeks), or worsening, they warrant medical assessment.

Ovarian cancer does not have a routine screening test. A cervical smear checks the cervix — it does not assess the ovaries. That’s why symptom awareness matters.

Early evaluation can make a significant difference. If something feels different for your body, it is always appropriate to seek advice.

A smear test cannot detect ovarian cancer.

This is something many women are understandably confused about — and it’s important to clarify.

A cervical smear (screening test) checks for changes in the cells of the cervix that could lead to cervical cancer. It does not assess the ovaries, and it does not screen for ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer can be more difficult to detect in its early stages because symptoms are often vague and can mimic other, less serious conditions. These may include:

• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly
• Changes in urinary habits

If symptoms are new, ongoing (most days for 3+ weeks), or worsening, they should always be assessed.

Understanding what your screening does — and doesn’t — cover is an important part of proactive healthcare.

If you have symptoms or concerns, see your GP.

Ovarian cancer symptoms are often quiet.

They don’t always feel urgent.
They don’t always feel “serious enough.”

Persistent bloating.
Pelvic or abdominal pain.
Feeling full quickly.
Needing to wee more often.

If something feels different for you and it lasts more than a few weeks that is reason enough to speak to your GP.

This International Women’s Day, we reflect on the responsibility that comes with providing care for women at every stage of life.
Women’s health is complex. It deserves time, careful assessment, evidence-based investigation, and clear communication not dismissal or delay.

Because thoroughness matters.
Because compassion matters.
Because women’s health matters.

We ask Endometriosis is more than “just bad periods.”

If your pain is stopping you from working, socialising, sleeping, or living comfortably that is not something you should have to push through.

Persistent pelvic pain, painful periods, discomfort during intimacy, heavy bleeding, bloating or fatigue are all symptoms that deserve proper medical attention.

Endometriosis is common, yet many people wait years for answers. Early recognition and supportive, evidence-based care can make a meaningful difference to quality of life.
If you have been wondering whether your symptoms are normal, we are here to listen and take the next steps needed to support your health.

No medical training.
No access to your history.
No ability to ask follow-up questions.
Online searches can be helpful, but they can also jump straight to worst-case scenarios without context or reassurance.
A proper medical conversation looks at the whole picture — symptoms, patterns, history, and what happens next.
