Coaching Opportunity!

Holywood FC is seeking expressions of interest for the position of First Team Coach.

Holywood FC has four competitive senior teams. The first team achieved promotion this season from 1B of the NAFL and will therefore compete in 1A for season 2024/25.

The role will entail working within the existing first team management structures, with primary responsibility for coaching the first team squad. The squad has experience of working to high quality, fast paced drills and we are keen to maintain and further develop these sessions to meet our requirements.

Holywood FC train twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Holywood town, with access to both grass and 3G surfaces. We require a highly motivated individual who is able to attend regularly on both evenings. The role also entails match day involvement on Saturday afternoon, with responsibility for pre-game warm up sessions, in-game coaching and good communication with players and the wider management team.

Holywood FC are delighted to announce that Neil McGaughey will be joining the coaching staff at the club for the 2023-24 season.

Last season McGaughey coached Queens University FC to a very respectable 3rd position in an extremely competitive PIL, but in the last month has decided to take a step back due to his work and indeed other football commitments, including his ongoing position with the Northern Ireland U18 Schoolboys.

Speaking to the club he announced he was "eager to stay involved in the coaching side of things and when the opportunity at Holywood FC was presented, I didnt need to think twice. I know a number of the existing players from teaching them at school or working with them in inter-varsity University football, and it is clear the club is on an upward tangent. I'm really looking forward to the new challenge of the NAFL and working with the group in pre-season".
