(Our opening hours are for our office. Counselling is from 9am-8:3pm Mon to Thur and 9am-3pm on Fri). We are a fresh thinking and innovative social enterprise in North Down. Our uHub will provide a space for talking therapies, life coaching, CBT and also holistic therapies and yoga which will provide a complement to our talking work. Our mission is to provide an exceptional service, with a multi-disciplinary approach to emotional health and well-being. Profits generated through our activities can be used to subsidise therapies in some cases, for people in need in our community. Feel free to contact us to see if we might be able to help. You can be sure that by taking time to help yourself, you are in turn helping someone in need in your local community. We have a reception area where our clients can make a cup of tea and relax before their sessions, and browse through our mini library full of inspiring books. We see uHub as having something for everyone, from small children right through to adults. All our counsellors are members of BACP and adhere to their ethical guidelines. We provide a safe and confidential environment where feelings can be explored. We work from an integrated approach, psychodynamic/person centred which we tailor to meet the needs of each individual so they can get the best possible service and experience from their counselling. We aim to offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental way of working, which is focused around your needs. By talking and understanding your current situation, and often your past, it is hoped that your presenting issues can be greatly improved. Our clients are offered an initial assessment where counsellor and client will work in collaboration to agree an approach for the work. We can help with a wide range of issues for example, dealing with depression, abuse, trauma, bereavement, anxiety, relationship and work related issues, self-esteem, stress and phobic anxieties, OCD, intrusive thoughts, ASD and general counselling. At uHub we also have a wealth of experience working with children and young people including those with ASD, ADHD and behavioural problems. Our approach can be tailored to include creative therapies, CBT and systemic practice. Give us a ring to chat through how we work and how we might be able to help you.

Uhub Pilot Project: Counselling Support for Neurodiverse Young People (12+) Experiencing EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)

Do you know a neurodiverse young person aged 12 or over who is finding it hard to attend school because of anxiety, overwhelm or emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA)

uHub is launching a pilot counselling programme to offer tailored support—for both young people and their parents/caregivers—to reduce anxiety, build emotional regulation, and help work towards a gradual return to school.

What the programme offers:

• 10 counselling sessions in total with a qualified counsellor. 6 of these sessions are for the young person only.

• Plus 4 parent/caregiver sessions:

- 3 one-on-one sessions with the counsellor (for parent/caregiver only) to address parental stress and build capacity to support and co-regulate their child’s anxiety.

- 1 joint session with both parent/caregiver and young person.

What we will work on:

• Helping the young person understand and reduce their anxiety in a safe, therapeutic manner.

• Equipping parents/caregivers with strategies to support their child— supporting co-regulation and emotional safety.

• Exploring ways to work collaboratively with the school, so that school becomes more supportive and less overwhelming.

• Once anxiety begins to reduce, introducing small-step strategies to gradually reintegrate the young person into school, aiming toward a longer-term goal of regular attendance.

Who is this for:

• Young people aged 12+ who are neurodiverse and experiencing EBSA.

• Their parent or primary caregiver, who is willing to attend the parent sessions.

How to get involved:

If this sounds like it could help you or someone you know, contact uHub.

Spaces are limited for the pilot, so early expressions of interest are encouraged. We hope this programme offers a compassionate, collaborative and hopeful path forward — one that honours each young person’s pace, supports parents/ carers, and builds bridges back to school in a way that feels safe and sustainable.

Please go to www.uhub.org.uk (Therapy tab) and complete a referral form stating "ESBA pilot" in the reason for referral box. Please also tick the "Community" box.

The closing date is 5pm on 22nd October for our first intake for the pilot.

All assessment calls will be completed before 24th October 2025 with the pilot beginning after Halloween half term.

We have 5 spaces available in this first intake.

We look forward to hearing from you!!
