🚨💉 Flu vaccine update 🚨💉

Our Practice team led by ANP Matthew Beattie has administered over 1200 vaccines in the last 2 months. 👏🏻👏🏻

We have used our full quota of nasal vaccines and vaccines for patients aged 65 years and over.

For Patients now considering getting the flu vaccination there are Trust clinics and community pharmacies still offering vaccinations.

Community pharmacies run a walk in vaccination service. While there is no central phone number, a full list of participating pharmacies can be found here: https://vaccinations.hscni.net/location-search

The South Eastern Trust are also running vaccination clinics, their main clinic is in the Ulster Hospital, but they are also running additional clinics at other sites. https://setrust.hscni.net/service/vaccination-clinics/

Did you know that you can self-refer to your local optician for acute onset of eye problems ? 👀

Consultations are generally available within 48 to 72 hours for patients aged 5 years and over !! Now that is impressive 👏🏻

The Northern Ireland Primary Eyecare Assessment and Referral Service (NIPEARS) is a service provided by most opticians across Northern Ireland, for patients who have developed a sudden eye problem within the previous 14 days.

The winter flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes will begin on 6 October 2025.

Vaccines provide the best defence against winter viruses.

People who are eligible for vaccination against flu or COVID-19 this year should make themselves aware of their own GP surgery’s or community pharmacist’s vaccination arrangements and work with them to get vaccinated.

🟦 Prevent Falls, Stay Safe! 🟦

To follow on from our recent First Contact Physiotherapist post, Matthew would like to promote the importance of Falls Prevention.

Falls can happen to anyone, but they can often be prevented and he encourages patients to be be proactive by assessing and avoiding risks.

You can make an appointment directly with Matthew for assessment or self refer to Trust services.
