Can you help find volunteers for Guide Dogs UK ?

A massive thank you to everyone who rallied their community spirit and helped to clear up 1.14-tonnes of litter during the recent Great British Spring Clean.

Volunteers across the district scooped up 282 bags of rubbish during the two-week annual clean-up from March 13 to 29.

The amount of drinks cans and cups, food and takeaway wrappers and the like collected by volunteers smashed last yearโ€™s total by 560kg - the weight of an adult polar bear or 7 household refrigerators.

It really is a united effort to tackle the amount of litter chucked on our streets, in our parks and hedgerows, and so thank you to each and everyone who took the time to muck in for the good of their community.

While our cleansing teams are out daily, your efforts really do help to keep our district clean and welcoming.

If you would like to host your own litter pick, please click here ๐Ÿ‘‰https://loom.ly/qwDvouc
Our team will arrange for litter picking equipment and collection of the rubbish you collect.

Weโ€™re still waiting to find out if weโ€™ll receive funding to cover the expense of additional liners. In the meantime, you'll either need to find something else or not use a liner.

Using a liner is recommended as this keeps your caddy cleaner (less washing up) and it's easier to empty into your outdoor bin.

All bags are split open by a machine and converted into refuse derived fuel, so you can use any type of bag that fits into the container - it doesn't have to be biodegradable.

You can buy caddy liners from most shops and online (7 litre capacity), or you can reuse any plastic or compostable packaging sitting around at home - just make sure there aren't any holes in the bottom!

Here are some reuse ideas that you can also use for any small bins around the home. It's a great way to clear that plastic bag stash that's taking up space!

A huge thank you to everyone who has tried the new food waste service. Your effort is making a BIG difference to the environment.๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Your Health Matters โ€“ don't delay, screen today! ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿฉบ BMG patients, did you know that bowel cancer is one of the most treatable cancers if caught early?
๐Ÿ’ก 90% of cases can be successfully treated when detected early โ€“ that's why screening is SO important!

๐Ÿ“ฌ Yet, shockingly, 60% of people don't send back their bowel screening kit. Are you one of them like the screening kit in the picture, sat in a bathroom cupboard? ๐Ÿค”
We get it โ€“ it might feel awkward or embarrassing, but this little test could SAVE YOUR LIFE! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ’Œ It's quick, it's simple, and itโ€™s free. Don't let embarrassment stand in the way of your health.
๐Ÿ’ช Take control today: do the test, send it back and give yourself the best chance of staying healthy.

๐ŸŽฏ Your health is worth it โ€“ just get it done! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
